Texture - I was uncertain if it would be OK, I feel like there's a sweet spot between being grippy enough that it doesn't slip out of the hand, while also not being too grippy so that it is difficult to pull out of my pocket. It turns out to be pretty much right in that zone, I don't ever find myself thinking about that at all. Protection - I already had a drop when someone bumped it out of my hand from a height of 3 ft directly onto a tile floor. Not a hint of damage to the phone or the case for that matter. Aesthetics - I got the dark blue, and it is about what I expected, nothing different than the picture.
