The description is not clear enough - it should be made very clear that it is imperative that you have a Sony Ericsson mobile phone to act as a conduit of power from laptop to speaker. Another mobile phone will not work and a 3.5 input jack does not provide power. I don't have a Sony Ericsson phone and it has proved impossible to find a suitable adaptor so they have proved to be completely useless. Therefore I cannot comment on the quality of sound but the design is really good.
