I didn’t see a lot of reviews for this product so I thought I’d give it the review it deserves. June 15, 2025: Batteries are set to expire December 2050. Expected run time, without battery replacement, is 10 years, per the description. Honestly I would be happy just to not have to replace the batteries every 6-12 months which was my selling point. Yes, the device is larger than expected if you cannot gauge it from the product photos. AA batteries are not small when you want something combined to an Apple AirTag with a waterproof housing. If you want something that will be extremely reliable, than this is it. But if you want something more discrete, they sell IPXX rated, magnetic/adhesive cases that are small. 4 units for $30 is a good price for the quality of the product. The rubber seals look extremely premium. They remind me of the rubber seals we had on U.S. Navy vessels for water tight integrity on door and latches. The grooves on the lid are nice and smooth, which in turn won’t damage the gasket seal. The plastic feels and looks premium as well. There are no injection mold lines/creases. There is an injection scar on the side of each assembly. The thing you’re looking for is uniformity of the plastic. No ripples, waves, and looks and feels smooth and uniform, that’s a major sign of excellent quality. That is 5/5 Stars. I like the fact that all the screws and the allen key is in one bag. I don’t want to have to disassemble it and then reassemble it. Assembling is extremely easy and absolutely perfect. Using allen screws is ideal from an engineering perspective. You get better and balanced leverage when creating the seal on the lid. It’s easy to remove anything. Functionally and practically: I put this in my carry on luggage. I used double sided adhesive strips to permanently place it. I don’t want it rolling around. I have another in my backpack which I intend to use adhesive velcro to hide it. The overall weight and dimensions, when fully installed, is nothing noticeable. It’s like holding a standard Snicker’s bar in your hand. If you’re on the fence about it, go to the gas station and that’s what you’re buying in size, just a little thinner and less healthy. Utilization: Works exactly as normal. It does not dilute the sound when you active the speaker. Using the search function with the distance and compass in FindMy works normally without fault. I haven’t tried the waterproof function, but considering the build, material, and quality, I would have unwavering faith this would not fail either. We’re not taking this thing to Titanic level depths, but I think if this thing fell into a 10 foot pool, was placed at the bottom, it would still go to the surface and end up as a floater. Conclusion: I wished I found these a long time ago. I could have saved so much money. This is a great long term investment. If they could make a line up of different versions and sizes, it would be phenomenal. I have over a dozen AirTags for different uses and purposes. I have a lot of them for my Milwaukee Packouts and this is an incredible device for what I need. Protecting your investments is critical. There are some compromises you might need to make, but having something last potentially for a decade for $10 ($7.50 for case and $2.50 for batteries) is priceless.

I had no idea that they made such good stuff. Super simple to put together and activate. I got the 4 pack of AirTags on sale and now I don’t have an issue with my luggage anymore. I had a regular AirTag in my luggage, travelled to London and of course my luggage was lost and wouldn’t you know it, my AirTag was dead. Goodbye $1000 Tumi bag, AirTag and all my clothes, into the abyss called Heathrow luggage services. These things are solid and well made. My only gripe is that once the AirTag is encased in the cover, and put in the bag it makes it very hard to hear the sound alert. Not a big deal as long as I can track it is what I care about. 10 years of tracking, hell yeah.

Excellent, I have these in my car, my bikes, my briefcase etc. They work perfectly. Only drawback is that in 10 years, when it does need new batteries, where the heck did I put that thing !

Setup is straightforward: remove the AirTag’s original battery and metal door, place it on the contact, add two AA batteries, and screw the case together with the included hex wrench. What I like Lasts longer than a stock AirTag. With rechargeables, I am at about 9 months per set of cells. With lithium AAs, the case is rated for 10 years. Either way I am not changing batteries constantly. Takes any two AAs — lithium, alkaline, rechargeable NiMH. The pitch is the 10-year number with lithium, but the case does not care what you put in it. If you already own a drawer of rechargeables, those work fine here, with the obvious lifetime tradeoff. Rugged. The case is overmolded rubber around a hard plastic shell. I have thrown one in a trunk, one in a backpack, and both are unmarked. I have stepped on one and it still works. This is the use case the product was built for. Weatherproof. Not “scuba-diving-rated” waterproof, but tight enough for rain, splashes, and being left outside. The gasket under the lid and the four captive screws do their job. Apple AirTag compatibility is not a question. When you put the AirTag in, it pairs as normal and shows up in Find My exactly where it always did. Nothing changes on the phone side. Drop-in replacement for an AirTag you already have. If you already own a spare AirTag, you do not need a new one — you put the AirTag you have into this case. Two AAs go in beside it. Done. Cheaper than buying new dedicated trackers. A 4-pack of cases is around $40 list. That is less than one dedicated long-life tracker would cost. What annoys me The screws are not Phillips-head. They take a hex (Allen) key. Specifically a special, slightly-uncommon size of hex that is bundled in the box. If you lose the bundled key, you are buying another one from a hobby store before you can change batteries. The screws and the hex key come in a separate bag. Not attached to the case, not held captive in the lid, not stuck inside the box in a smart way. They arrive in a small baggie that is easy to lose. About 30% of my time changing batteries has been spent finding the baggie of screws. For a 4-pack, only two of them are in active use. The other two are stored, screws and keys loose in whatever drawer the baggie ended up in. Months later, when I actually need to use a third case, finding the bits is a small chore. The “10-year” claim assumes a specific battery. Energizer Ultimate Lithium AAs, in writing. If you use alkaline or rechargeable, the number is dramatically lower. I do not want to switch to a $1 AA per cell just to hit the 10 years, so I am leaving a lot of capacity on the table with my rechargeables. No published runtime curve for rechargeables. I would happily buy the case again knowing I would get 9 months per charge, but I am working that out from experience. Elevation Lab does not publish a NiMH-specific estimate. There is room for a chart of “lithium / alkaline / rechargeable” with expected months of normal use. Muffles the AirTag speaker. The chirp when an iPhone pings a lost AirTag is much quieter through the case wall. If you wanted the case as a “still find my keys” solution, the speaker is the weak link. Adds bulk. The case is roughly 4× the volume of a bare AirTag. In a tight glove box or a small backpack pocket, that matters more than the spec sheet suggests. Mine fit, but they are noticeable. The bundled hex key is poorly labeled. There is no size marking on it. If you put it in a junk drawer with other Allen keys, you do not know which one it is. A Phillips screwdriver would have been universally recognized. Who it is for, who should skip it This is the right case for any AirTag where you do not want to swap the CR2032 every year — vehicles, luggage, RVs, ATVs, gear stored in garages, anything that gets tossed around or left outside. If you have ever had an AirTag die just when you needed it, the AA-powered case solves that. It is also a worthwhile upgrade if you already own a drawer of AAs or AA rechargeables. Skip it if you do not want to keep track of a small hex key. Skip it if your use case is “small item lost somewhere in the house, click Play to find it” — the muffled speaker makes that experience worse. Skip the 4-pack if you only need two of them — the half-life problem with the loose screws and key applies harder to the half you do not actively use. Verdict The Elevation Lab AA AirTag case is what I would have bought a year earlier if I had known about it. It does the one thing that matters — extends real-world battery life well past the stock AirTag — and does it in a rugged, weatherproof housing. The reason this is a B and not an A is the hardware-design tradeoff: hex screws instead of Phillips, the screws and key arriving in a separate bag, and the case not having a place to keep them captive. Two of the four cases in my 4-pack are actively deployed and they are great. The other two are loose in a drawer waiting for me to find the baggie again. That is the caveat. Grade: B. Easy buy for vehicle-and-backpack AirTags; lose one star to the captive-screw design.

I bought these a few months ago, and hadn't used one until today. I'm very impressed with the build quality. Airtags to me always felt kind of fragile, this makes them feel tough and waterproof! 10 years (estimated) battery life is going to be amazing. Even if the batteries I used don't last 10 years, they're worth it not to have to change them every year!

Absolutely love this case. It turns your AirTag into a mini black box that could probably survive a tumble down Mount Doom. The build quality is solid, battery life is unbeatable with AAs, and installation was super straightforward. One tip: if you’re using this in a vehicle (especially for theft recovery), I highly suggest removing the AirTag’s speaker. Why? Because if your vehicle ever gets stolen, the AirTag won’t start chirping and give away its hiding spot to the thief. A silent tracker is a smart tracker. Overall, 10/10—this thing is rugged, reliable, and way more functional than the standard coin battery setup.
