great gift
Got the LEGO Technic Backhoe Loader (42197) for my son as an intro Technic set. Around 100 pieces — easy for him to build with a little help, not frustrating. For a small set it actually does stuff: front bucket lifts, back arm digs, stabilizers fold down, so he can “work” with it instead of just parking it on a shelf. It’s not very big and the details are simplified, but the price is reasonable and it makes a good starter set for a kid who likes construction vehicles.

Construction fun
Got this for my kid who's really into construction stuff and it was a total hit. The build kept them busy for a while and the moving parts are super cool once it's done. The bucket and arm actually work and it rolls really smoothly. Feels solid and well made like most Technic sets. We had fun building it together and it looks great on the shelf now. Definitely a win if your kid likes machines or building things that actually do something.

Fun & Functional LEGO for younger kids
This backhoe loader can lift and dig with its shovels. My son enjoyed assembling it and loves playing with it. This is one of the LEGO kits that my kids don't take apart to use the pieces in another way. My 5 year old needed minimal help from his older brother with it. Great value for the price.
