I was looking for something faster. These are slick. They glide effortlessly and the slight hills around the neighbourhood are so much easier to climb than with my old skates. I used the sizing chart to select my size. Based on the measurements, I went larger than my shoe size. They fit well and are incredibly comfortable. The inner liner is soft and fits snug on my foot. They are a lot easier to put on than my old Nike or my original Bauer hockey style inline skates. I took them out a few times before writing a review. First time was a couple km. I had to adjust my stride. I also had to adjust how I stop with them. Next couple times I went around the block a few times. About 5 to 10 km each time. They are built solid, fast, and comfortable. They ride smooth and quiet. Yesterday I took them to the lake for a 16 km ride along the path. It took 52 minutes at a quick but casual pace. That’s just better than 18 km/h. These skates are great. The rubber friction brake is not ideal for speeds exceeding 8-10mph. Using these brakes presents two problems: 1- You have to completely straighten your leg (reduces bloodflow/fainting risk) AND put yourself off balance to use it. 2- Once you start braking, it's VERY difficult to transition back to a position of maneuverability. This is in no way akin to depressing a car's brake pedal. With a little practice, you'll find that the wheels are much better for stopping you. Bubble-wrapping yourself and belly flopping the pavement is likely a safer alternative to using a pencil eraser. **Q: If I wear a 10.5 shoe will the 10's work for me?** A: No, always size up or they wont fit.
