Review: Easy to calibrate. - In addition to using distilled water, I made some sucrose calibration syrups at 2.5, 5, and 10 degrees Brix. I did have to make an adjustment to get the device calibrated, but it was quick and easy. This will make things much easier during our initial maple sap evaporation processes.

**Q: does it measure sugar content diectly from the fruit? grape?pear?**
A: Brix measures the amount of solids in solution. That means it will measure sugar but also all other nutrients that are in the juice. It’s not just sugar.

**Q: What is the exacly weigth?**
A: About 1lb. Its very light.

**Q: can this be used for honey?**
A: Yes, but it is not accurate enough, u can go to buy our tiaoyeer honey refractometer, Thank u for ur question!

**Q: Where is written directions booklet ?**
A: Instructions are included in the box. But not much to it. Put a few drops of wine on the slanted glass, flip the plastic on top of the glass, where wine will be sandwiched. Wait 30 seconds or so. Looks through the scope eye piece and read the graduated scale, Brix number.

If you have a slushy machine and you intend to serve house made frozen cocktails you NEED this. Don’t buy the cookie cutter premade frozen drink mixes. Make your own from scratch. They taste like far better and a far cheaper to make. Takes some of the guesswork out of cocktail creation and allows more creativity. If your Brix is between 13-15 you’ve got a viable batch of frozen cocktails. Depending on your machine you may have additional wiggle room but if you’re in that general range you’re in good shape. This refractometer is easy to use right out of the box and very affordable.
