You can't lift it and put back though as it won't stick down again. If you intend to leave it down its perfect and when you do lift it up no damage at all to your carpet. I wouldn't put it on wood floor though as would be sticky to get up, perfect on carpet though **Q: Can I use this on material?** A: Yes you can, but whether it will stick or not is unknown.
