So they can mimic empty cases if so desired. They are heavier then I expected although they are lighter the loaded rounds. They have a small piece of rubber that cushions the firing pin and replacement rubber comes in the case. I like the orange bullet tip. It makes them easier to find if they are used for malfunction clearing and end up on the ground. Over all I'm impressed. On thing to be aware of.
