Batman: The Long Halloween: DC Compact Comics Edition

One of my favorite Batman stories. The size of these is great, a lot easier to carry around, and you can't beat the $10 price tag. I hope they make tons more classic DC comics like this. This would be a great introduction for someone who has never read a comic book before.

This Batman: The Long Halloween compact edition arrived quickly and in perfect condition, which is exactly what you hope for when ordering books. My son hasn’t finished reading it yet, but he was really happy to get it for Christmas — this was one he’d really been wanting. So far, no complaints at all. Great price, fast shipping, and a happy Batman fan in the house.

I'm fairly new to comics, especially DC/Batman, but man is this a fantastic comic. 'The long Halloween' follows GCPD and Batman as they try to find a way to bring some of the most powerful criminals in Gotham to justice, when a new serial killer known as 'Holiday' pops up killing members of these criminal organizations, with their calling card as the date of the killings. It's an incredibly interesting mystery to watch unfold with excellent art at every page. You get a good explanation of each character if you aren't familiar, and a taste of some of Batman's rouges gallery in some issues. The Compact Comic edition is also excellent. $10 for one of the best Batman stories is a steal. Compared to the other Compacts, I believe this is the thickest of them all with over 350 pages. Gutter loss is also not too bad, didn't need to stretch the spine much to read long panels. As with most Amazon books/comics you will need to be wary of some of the packaging methods, the book does not come in shrink-wrap to keep pages together so the paperback cover or some pages can get folded or bent. Luckily haven't had that issue pop up too often, but it is certainly possible.

AMAZING STORY AND ARTWORK, but the packaging was geniunely abysmal 😭 came in all crumpled and pages folded. After putting under a heavy object for a few days it did get much better though

My favorite comic format todate, honestly. I use DC infinite and have shelves of physical comics, both TPB and single issues. The feel of single issue comic books can't be beat, but these are a close second. If this format becomes more regularly released combined with the affordability of these TPB collections, it could take the hobby to entirely new heights. 5/5

Overall: 10/10. A must buy for both Batman fans and newcomers. Story: 10/10 The Long Halloween was recommended to me as the definitive Batman mystery story, and I’m pleased to say it exceeds those expectations. I won’t go into the plot, as it’s best experienced with no prior knowledge (Avoid the blurb if possible), but the writing is gripping. It captures everything you could want from a Batman mystery and executes it flawlessly. Art: 10/10 The artwork is incredible and worth the purchase on its own. Tim Sale is a genius at his craft. Product Condition: 9/10 The spine has a small bump but is overall negligable. The paper maintains the quality you'd expect, but the text can sometimes lose some color, though it's never to the point that the words are unreadable. The compact format can slightly affect the readability of some double-page spreads, but it doesn’t detract from the overall experience, and given the price, is well worth it.

It lives up to the hype. Such a great comic I was hooked from start to finish. The artwork is amazing and the book introduces a lot of Batman’s rouges gallery. Can really recommend, it came on time and in great condition.

One of the darkest and most fleshed out DC stories I’ve ever read! Definitely recommend if you love Batman. The price of these DC Compact editions is just amazing as well!
