CHLORHEX 2X, 4% Shampoo 8OZ

Arrived quick ! My pitbull Zeus is a rescue & he's plaged with a smelly, itchy coat. He frequently gets "hot spots" on his chest, and his underarms on his front legs. He is almost completely hairless in that area now because of his scratching. He chews at his feet and body... & he licks his paws constantly. He also gets these bumps on his head and around his ears that turn into dried up scabs... Ive tried soo many shampoos from the vet, allergy shots that did pretty much nothing long term. He's also had his skin scraped to check for parasites which came up negative. The last shampoo my vet prescribed was okay for a while.... it was called Universal Medicated Shampoo by Vetquinol. it seemed to keep things under control to a degree but never really improved his condition. recently his coat has gotten worse and now he's losing hair on his sides and on his hind legs where he's been biting himself. I read the reviews on here & other peoples dogs seemed to have similar symptoms with great results.... so im hoping ive found our miracle cure. He's been an itchy baby ever since he was about 3 or 4 months and we havent been able to figure out whats going on with him. I have two other pitbulls who are perfectly fine with gorgeous coats so i know its nothing that can be transmitted between dogs. If this does work, im gonna buy it by the gallon. Literally. They sell it by the gallon here on Amazon. LOL ill update in a few weeks 👌 UPDATE !!!!!!!!! ive found a miracle cure for zeus !! 😄 so, he's been an itchy, miserable puppy ever since he was about 4 months old. I think he's pretty much allergic to life in general. lol, he's broken out in hives a few times and had other rashes... he would scratch himself behind his ears, on his sides & under his arms till he would bleed.. bite at his feet, get random crusty hard bumps on the top of his head... his hair was falling out from all the scratching. 😩 so, I tried changing his dog food to taste of the wild grain free stuff (which ive kept all my pitbulls on, its great), lathering him in coconut oil and apple cider vinegar (he hated that, by the way.. lol), ive took him to the vet & they did skin scrapings which came back negative, gave him drops for his ears, perscribed him different shampoos, gave him allergy shots, antibiotics, ointments, everything you can think of and NOTHING worked. Hundreds in vet bills & absolutely nothing. So i did my own research and found this AHHHMAYYYZING shampoo & It works. Its literally fantastic. Words cant describe how thankful i am that the search is over !! the price isnt bad either, It's about $60 bucks for a GALLON. I actually use it on all of my dogs now because its a great preventative for a ton of skin conditions and its 100% safe for long term use. my dogs always smell amazing and i wash them like maybe once a week with this stuff... sometimes they go longer than a week & they still smell clean by the next bathtime. & of course the best part is that Zeus isnt an itchy dog anymore !!!! He loves belly rubs and he loves when we scratch him behind his ears now. before, we couldnt do those things because it would just make his skin itch worse. He's a totally different dog now and ive only been using this stuff for a few months. His coat is so softttt and the hair is growing back !!!! it looks so healthy. Before, it always felt greasy and looked dirty. & his coat used to smell soooo bad. I had to give him baths like every two days just to tolerate his smell. now, like i said, he always smells amazing. All of my dogs do. It blows my mind. the skin on his stomach and chest has zero bumps now, its not red anymore. He doesnt have any scabs on the back of his ears or under his arms. He's so much more loveable !! He actually wants to snuggle ♡ He didnt really like being touched before. It was so frustrating... I still dont know what WAS wrong with him, all i know is this shampoo is incredible & its healed him completely !!!! Ill never use anything else. It may seem kind of expensive but compared to vet bills its nothing !! And seeing zeus comfortable is priceless... i felt so bad for him before. I thought he was doomed to a life of misery. Dude.... im just laying here admiring his gorgeous coat. All of his hair is back now. It amazes me. He hasnt looked this handsome since he was like 4 months old. He had his first birthday last month. My dog has Cushing disease and struggles with rashes and yeast. This shampoo has been the best for clearing up her rashes and relieving her itching. Her hair is soft and shiny, too. I'm grateful I found this shampoo!! It has really helped my Yorkie!

I had originally purchased this shampoo to help with mange. It did help, but wouldn't resolve it completely. We had to get a prescription from the vet for some pills & "special" shampoo. The vet shampoo cost twice as much & was the exact same ingredients as this product. Even after the skin issue was cleared up, we use this shampoo occasionally on one of our dogs, just as a maintenance or preventative measure. The bottle doesn't seem very large so, I wash them to remove the majority of dirt & stink, then use this shampoo. That way it lathers up better & goes much further. I would use it more often, but it doesn't leave a nice smell. Not that it stinks or smells bad. It leaves sort of a nuetral smell or maybe a hint of mediciney sterile smell. In any case, no skin issues since using this product as a preventative aid.

Jan 13 2016 update: we continue to shampoo with the product as it continues to keep the bacteria at bay. Talked with vet about product and she highly recommends. Said there is no need for concern regarding the small amout of keto having future immunity issues. Also suggested pouring a small amount in a plastic cup (about the amount you would squeeze onto pet) and add water and mix without shaking. This is the easiest way to obtain a better lather than straight from bottle. Adding the water does not effect potency any differently than wetting down pet and adding direct from bottle to a wet coat. I would not say this product is a cure for my dog's issues but it is certainly helpful in maintaining a healthy coat and temporarily relieving allergy and itch caused by bacteria and yeast. Highly recommend. ___________________ Been thru the gamet of shampoos and allergy meds, shots/drops, natural remedies, and antibiotics to rid the fungal, bacterial skin infections due to dog's allergies. Like most others that have similar issues with their pets, odors return shortly after completion of antibiotic treatments and a couple of days after bathing with numerous medicated shampoos, vinegars, betadyne, etc etc. Dog was recently on a 30 day regimen of ketoconazole which seemed to work when shortly afterward, he underwent surgery for a mast cell tumor with a level 2 dx. This type of tumor is common in a handful of breeds especially where allergies are also part of their life. It's important to check your allergy pets for lumps and bumps that seem to come and go from the same spot on their body. It can appear larger than a hive and can be soft and irritating. When it is barely noticeable, you might notice a decline in your pet's need for antihistamine. When it appears larger, you might notice your pet having a greater need for antihistamines. Mast cell tumors have histamine in them. It is important that as much of the affected surrounding tissue be removed with the tumor in order to avoid spreading the toxins. Our dog is doing much better and we continue to give him only one Benadryl at night. It has been almost 2 months since his surgery and his odor and yeast issues have been minimized. However, he has continued to itch a bit and a bit of returning odor. We bathed him with this shampoo and we could tell the odor was dissipating. Because we just bathed him, I'll have to return here to update progress. I am hopeful that with this recent surgery and this shampoo, he might live a more relaxed life. As a side note, because keto-hex products have a small amount of antibiotic ketoconazole , I opted for the shampoo product with only chlorhexidine in it , and then purchased the jar of pads for small spot cleanings called keto-hex . Please check your dogs regularly for lumps and don't wait to see a vet.

This shampoo was recommended to me by a breeder. Chlorhex 2x 4% Shampoo, 8 Oz. My French Bulldog has horrible allergies and needed to have baths every other day with expensive prescription shampoos I had to purchase from my vet, and she was still itching. I tried this shampoo on the recommendation of a breeder of French Bulldogs. After just one bath, Coco wasn't itching or breaking out with the rash that she always had on her stomach, legs and neck. We are now down to one bath per week at a much, much, lower priced shampoo...a shampoo that is holding her itching and rash from appearing. I now have a much more comfortable, playful dog all because of this great shampoo. Try it, you will not be sorry....and neither will your dog! Smells great, makes the coat really shiny, and gets rid of all the itching!

Love this product. My Yorkie struggles with skin condition (yeast) that gives off a horrific odor leaving everything she even sits on smell. Even after a bath you could still smell it and within 2 days it was terrible again. This product has been a life saver for her and for me. She is so much happier since she gets immediate relief from any skin irritation and kills the yeast odor resulting in a lot more hugs/kisses. I bathe her once a week with this product and keeps this skin issue under control. In order for this product to be effective you have to make sure you rub into the skin (and not hair) and has to stay on for at least 10 minutes. If not, you are defeating the purpose since it doesn't have time to work it's magic. I will give my dog a massage for 10-15 minutes while I keep rubbing into her skin since she hates the actual bath process but loves the massage so makes it makes it better for the both of us. Highly recommend this product.

This seems to work okay........I still use an antifungal/antibacterial shampoo with it.

AWESOME for rain rot and dermatitis on horses! My 24-year-old QH mare lives in a pasture, in the humid Florida heat, so she's usually got some sort of rain rot or dermatitis going on. Lately, she developed a flaky, itchy chest and would bite when I tried brushing it so I ended up buying this shampoo. I lather it on with a shower poof made for humans, leave it for about 15 mins and rinse well. Within about 3 uses, spaced a few days apart, the flakes were GONE and so was the rain rot elsewhere on her body that I also shampooed with this. She no longer tries to bite when I brush her chest so I presume the sensitivity is gone too. The shampoo seems mild enough, doesn't irritate my hands at all when I wash her and it's quite sudsy. The bottle was surprisingly small but since it's so sudsy it's still only half empty and I've used it quite a few times. Highly recommended! :)

Excellent shampoo for yeast infected dog. My dog is super sensitive to everything. This shampoo keeps the fungus at bay and makes her smell fabulous. It is long lasting too. Some shampoos she smells good for a couple days but this one keeps her stinky free for couple weeks and then some. Stops the frito chips smell very well.

Give it some time. It took 3 washes to help easy the itchy dry patches on my girl. Leaves her coat smelling good, not like the dirty sock she usually smells like and ohhhh so soft! Shes white and comes out looking brand spanking new. Will buy this again even just for regular washing.

I bought this for my dog because he had some kind of skin condition. He was itching a lot, had red skin, smelled horrible, was getting overly oily on his back, had really bad dandruff, was losing fur on his tail and the edges of his ears had a yeast issue. Since using this shampoo he smells WAY better, he's soft, doesn't itch anywhere near as much, way less dandruff, less oily, and his fur is growing back! The bottle is small but it works well, smells great, gives my dog the best clean ever leaving him soft, shiny, and smelling great.

I bought this because I've been dealing with a staph infection, and needed to decolonise both myself and the cat. I haven't been able to do this because of other health issues, but I have been bathing the cat regularly with it, or at least her face and head. That has been necessary because I press my face against her sweet furry one, and can pick up bacteria that cause more skin issues. If I wash her face and head with this shampoo (wet hair and skin, leave it on for 5 minutes while I wash the rest of her free of dander), I can snuggle with my fur-baby as much as I want, and won't get skin issues. As a HUGE additional benefit, it has cleared her feline acne up. As long as she gets regular bathing with this (and I keep her toys and bedding clean), her feline acne is virtually gone. In the past it was very painful, huge cysts, blackheads, pus and blood. But this chlorhexidine shampoo kills off whatever bacteria causes her feline acne. It is a lot cheaper here than it is buying it at the vet's office. As long as it remains cheaper on Amazon, I will continue to buy it from here.
