This decorative lantern is attractive, although it is a bit smaller than I expected. It is powered by 3 AA batteries (not included). It operates in 3 modes: solidly lit, fade in and out, and flickering. This is noted by the seller description, but it didn't come with operating instructions and the switch is only marked On/Off. I accidentally discovered that you need to turn it off then on again to switch from mode to mode. I will also say that it is extremely bright and difficult to look at directly. It also doesn't appear to be very weather resistant. All that said, I gave it 4 stars because it works and performs as advertised. There you have it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, but a bit hard on batteries *by B***M on Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2018* I didn't read the description well enough, and I thought this was solar...then I read that it will last about 48 hrs with batteries. That's not horrible, but it does put a lot of batteries in landfills. Luckily we are big on rechargeable, and are working to get that set up as the only type of batteries we use. The light itself is REALLY pretty, and I am excited to open it tomorrow morning as one of my presents... The metal designs surrounding the light are very beautiful. I think that having each side different makes it unique. The side with the dragonfly was my original draw to this but I appreciate them all. The part I dislike and my reason for questioning the quality is the covering. It feel like a cheap plastic. I guess this is to prevent breaking since it is meant for outdoor use as well.
