Amazing and TRUE Shinwa Steel
This is a 100% authentic Shinwa blade. Despite being made in their Chinese forges, it is an all-Japanese Mastercraft that should NOT be overlooked. The blade features Shinwa's signature hand-dremeled insignia along with their a double fuller, the latter running down half the blade before the spine thins out into almost a longsword-esque blade meant for reverse swings--an accurate detail to the nagamaki--before thickening up again for the tip of the blade. It is beyond sharp, and is a very sturdy-yet-flexible blade overall.

Most likely was a used blade.
I received a MESSED UP SWORD, instead of trying to replace the product with a good one to satisfy the customer they just said "Ok, send it back and we will give you refund". The blade was very dull at the tip and bent, the handle was cheap and appeared to have heat damage as I could see melted plastic around the bamboo dowels. The design of the sword has a major flaw as well. The handle is too long and the blade is too short. The picture they use makes it look like the blade is longer.

Beautiful & durable
Very well made. I could easily take someone's head off with it.

I LOVE THIS SWORD.
the sword is excellent quality if you just want to display it and is worth the money in my opinion does not come with the care kit mentioned in the owner's book but you really don't need it the sword can also be disassembled and reassembled don't attempt without a brass needle (long stick of brass without a tip also very narrow) the reason being that brass is a soft metal and the pegs in the handle holding the tang are wood.

all that being said it is still a beautiful weapon. very long and elegant
item was almost as described, but has many dings and scratches and appears to be already used!!! This maybe due to the fact that it was poorly packaged but sitll, I ordered a brand new one not a used one, and the package arrived four days late. all that being said it is still a beautiful weapon. very long and elegant, however the saya does rattle a bit, and was full of sawdust.

Feels flimsy, not truly straight
The blade feels soft and flimsy, the steel is easily bendable. I havent taken the handle off but it feels like the steel doesnt run full tang the length of the handle.

Good project sword or wall hangar.
The blade was of a better quality than the cheapest carbon steel LongQuan katana replicas. Pretty damascus pattern, reasonably resistant to bending, and takes a razor edge. The handle is much to long, I cut mine back to 15" and put it back together. Then it was a very nice backyard cutter and practice implement. I am not trained with swords, mostly have been learning to 'beat the bushes' with machetes, cutlass, and the Cold Steel sword/machete things.. As the sword arrived from a dealer in Atlanta not from Amazon in my case, it had been roughly used, was bent, the wrapping was frayed and had black dye on it, probably from the gloves worn in the warehouse filmed demo where folks swung the sword like a baseball bat and still made cuts. The fact that I got 80 bucks off made the repairs easier to grin through and I was going to take it apart and sharpen it anyway, They gave me some straightening and a couple of nicks to work out. Watch the Bud K video on this one, pretty sure I have that same sword :/ One well known YouTube kendo instructor and martialist made a fine Nodachi with one, I basically copied his dimensions. Got mine on sale, would probably buy a red army sword for this much money, but not mad that I have mine. It's a big pretty blade that will actually cut. Not hard to keep a razor edge on it. Would like to see what somebody who is experienced with water stones could do with this steel. Buy it, don't expect "battle ready" and you'll be happy. Good, just not great.
