The Kindle Scribe has quickly become my go-to device. I take it everywhere with me and use it every single day. The writing experience is incredible—it genuinely feels like pen on paper with zero lag, making note-taking, sketching, and writing a total pleasure. On top of that, having full access to download my entire Kindle book library on the same screen makes it the ultimate all-in-one reader and notebook. If you like to take notes on the go and want the natural feel of real paper alongside a top-tier e-reader, this is worth every penny.

I’m SO happy that I decided to bite the bullet and purchase the Kindle Scribe! I was apprehensive at first because of the price knowing that I have the iPad which has more features. Although it’s nice reading and not being distracted by messages and notifications like you get on an iPad etc. Pros: There’s no glare when reading. My eyes get tired now with working on a laptop most of the day and then reading on a screen such as the iPad the glare bothers my eyes. Not this kindle! I can read for a lot longer times like I used to be able to do! The note taking feature is amazing! I love the “feel” of writing on paper when you aren’t. My plan is to use this at church for taking notes so I don’t have to keep buying journals and pens, and this is much lighter in my Bible bag! I LOVE how the fountain pen writes! my only concern is, as I haven’t had this long enough to use at church yet, is how many notes I can have alongside my books before the 64 gb fill up….but I think I can print the notes or send them to word or something, I’ll have to research that. I’ve had the original Kindle and the oasis. The regular of course is more outdated now and the Oasis was nice that it was small enough to fit in my purse, but my eyes aren’t getting much better so I would have to have the font rather big to where there was just a sentence or two on one page and third wasn’t the reading experience I enjoy. This Kindle Scribe is just the right size, in my opinion! Some have said it’s too big but I think it’s just the right size. And it’s so light! I have a case on it, which added a bit more weight, but it’s still light enough to handle easily. Cons: There’s only con I have, and it’s not a deal breaker, is that they don’t have colors as a choice for the pen to be able to write in different colors. This would be nice for journaling and drawings…..but maybe that will be a later edition! 😊

I love to read and I am addicted to the feel of physical books in my hand ... always will be. However I love this Kindle! I sit and read and study in coffee shops on weekends and the ability to not only have access to hundreds of thousands of books on various topics but to also find PDF books and research online and download it to the kindle to read later is such a benefit. Also the ability to take notes is great as well. I also like to make notes in the margins ... but, the note taking is a bit confusing at times. There are several ways to make notes in the book pages it's self but the outcomes are not all the same. Just know that there is plenty of room for notes in the book you're reading, It just isn't the same as writing in the margins of a real book. Some things I never considered. The lack of expandable memory. A 16GB is just that, there is no option to use a memory card. You'll have to buy the larger internal memory version if you are a big note taker and PDF downloader. Keep that in mind when you buy. Carefully consider the cover you buy. The one I bought is nice but it is slick and putting the Kindle on the car seat risks it being launched onto the floor board if I break suddenly. I now carry mine in the case I bought for it but then inside a messenger bag or briefcase. I like the soft light for reading in darker environments but also that it is easy to read in daylight. It connects easily to a WIFI network. It has a built in browser but I have never used it. I carry a computer with me or my phone and so far it seem easier to use and navigate through one of them rather than the Kindle, but, it's there if you need it.

I absolutely love this! It’s perfect for keeping all my books, notes, and documents in one place without having to carry around a bunch of notebooks and books. I especially love being able to write notes and make lists right on it. The screen is easy on the eyes, and the battery life is great. As someone who is in school, this has been such a great addition for keeping everything organized and having what I need all in one place. I also love that I can read my books on it too! 📚❤️ Definitely recommend if you’re a student, reader, or just someone who loves being organized!

As an e-reader, this thing all that I would expect. The thing is light, the bevel is nice to grab onto, the screen auto rotates if you want to hold it in your left hand, and I can increase the font to a size that I don't need glasses to read the text (pro tip: don't get old, or at least don't let your eyes get old). But this is the type of stuff I would expect at this point. The reason I got this one over a basic e-reader was because of the notebook feature. This is where I am disappointed. First the good: writing to text is good enough to recognize my handwriting. Years of keyboard warrioring has left my handwriting skills something to be desired. Even this little note, I would have rather just typed it out. But for the sake of testing I tried out the AI converting tool and good enough. Now the not so good: Starting with a simple schematic and working through some formulas, I quickly found myself running out of space. I'm use to doing this task in Onenote where I can just scroll down for more room, so this caught me off guard. This works more like paper (duh) so got to be prepared to jump to a new page when you go down. The next thing I tried was doing a working drawing. I quickly found myself trying to use pinch zoom and not finding it. Once again, like paper. Not saying this is bad, but I was expecting more. The lightness makes me want to use it for taking project notes over my Surface Pro, but this lack of a more computerized note-taking is a let-down. A thing I picked up from using this: If your going to write, turn the bevel towards your writing hand. It will give you a little more slide room before you are coming off the reader. Lastly, I tried some more artistic things. I'll admit I am no artist, but I found that even an old sketch pad and paper had more tools than the pencil tool. Primarily, I can smudge with paper and pencil. This tool is not there. Admittedly I got better with using different brush sizes but it feels more like a workaround solution. I am also sure that a more artistic type would do much better but I also feel that they might want to look at other options with better tools as well. In the end it's not a bad device. It will serve me well as a Kindle, which was the primary reason I bought it. I was just expecting more out it when you compare this to the other e-ink note takers out there. One final thing, if you use the notebook feature, you're going to want to use a firm surface. This thing is light enough that it feels like writing on a notebook in the air if you don't have it propped.

I have wanted a device that functions well as a notebook AND a reader for quite a while. Taking notes on the iPad is not a great experience and the "writing feel" just isn't there which results in unreadable writing. I was impressed from the start by the feel of the Premium Pen on the surface of the e-Ink display. Not quite like writing on paper, but darn close. It took some time to get the right tool and thickness to balance density of writing against a medium-ruled page. These eyes are too old for reading and writing on a narrow-ruled page and I don't always have reading glasses or bifocals with me. Now one also gets a Kindle for reading, and I like to read a lot. The 10-inch screen is just lovely for reading and I can't wait to see it render simple images from my books. I'm not expecting greatness or photo-realism, just something large enough to actually look at and interpret to help me with the story without having to drag out a magnifying lens. As for reading text, the backlighting is even and the text crisp. I like to make the text a little bigger so I don't have to use reading glasses that I inevitably forget to bring anyway. The backlight can adjust to changes in ambient light although sometimes it is a bit slow on the uptake. I also have it set to adjust the brightness and color warmth of the display in the evenings -- a feature also on my Paperwhite (SE) that I could not give up. What I don't like: It is not pocket-portable. I know that it isn't intended to be as such, but one of my requirements is to be able to bring a Kindle with me when I go to lunch or out and about. One of the great things about my Paperwhite is that I can stash it in a pocket when I go to lunch, do what I need to do, and not have to juggle stuff as I am trying to order and eat. I am not ready to give up the Paperwhite because it is great for those times that I need the portability. If I bring the Scribe, I have to hold it at all times in one hand which makes things a bit more difficult to manage when I am out and about and maneuvering plates, drink cups, etc. I don't particularly want to put it in a man-purse. Because of the lack of portability of the Kindle Scribe, I can't yet give up my Paperwhite -- and yes, it feels a little silly to have two Kindles. "Sync to furthest page read" and "go to location" have become good friends to me. So, the conundrum: Do I stick with both devices or do I give one up? The workflow is still a bit awkward.

I have a previous version 16GB kindle scribe that came with just a basic pen. I love my scribe so much that I've given it a 5-star review. When I saw the new 2024 upgraded version, I wanted to upgrade to a larger storage capacity (64gb) with a premium pen (eraser is so helpful), so I traded in a very old kindle to get the 20% trade-in discount for the new scribe. I had such high hope for the new scribe. I thought that the second reimagined version will be better in every way than the previous version. Oh, was I wrong! I was extremely disappointed that the new scribe fell short on all levels compared to my previous scribe! That, in itself is hard to do - failed on all levels at a premium!!! Where do I even begin with my disappointment?! The White Bezel: The white border or bezel really does not look as good as advertised. If you enlarge my photos, you will see that it’s a white frame on top of the green border and the white frame isn’t even covering the green border that perfectly. You can also see the right side edge has light leaking out from the white bezel and it was driving me crazy when I tried to read. This does not happen with the previous version scribe. The Front Lights and Clarity: When comparing the two devices side by side, the new scribe’s front lights are not as evenly distributed as the previous version. I can see the difference between the two devices. When I have both devices set at the same brightness and warmth level, the new scribe was not as clear nor bright as the previous version, but was slightly more yellowish (oh no, that infamous yellow hue band)! When reading on the new scribe with its lights on, the surface of the screen looks as if there is a slight whitish film covering the screen making the words not as clear as the previous version. The previous version is much clearer and has better brightness and light distribution. It’s harder to tell in the photos, but the difference is very clear to the naked eye. Background Screen Color without front lights on: I couldn’t understand why when both devices were set at the same brightness and warmth, the new scribe was slightly dimmer, so I turned off the brightness (light) and compared the background of the screen and discovered that the new scribe was so much darker (grayer)! Newer scribe should be an improved version and who would’ve thought that it went backward? The Screen Surface: The screen surface of the new scribe is slightly “rougher” or textured. I use three different digital pens on my scribe because all three feel very different from one another, so I use them for different things. When I use them on the new scribe, I notice that the very smooth nib didn’t glide as much and the “rubbery” nib on the Staedtler noris jumbo became too hard to write on the new screen surface (drags too much). So, if you own a Staedtler digital pen and love to use it on your previous scribe, you will hate it on the new scribe. Oh, there is also a very bad ghosting issue with the new scribe, way worse than the older version scribe! Now, about the premium pen. I do love the extra side button and I set it as a highlighter, but the position of the side button is a huge problem. I find myself constantly clicking at it while I write because I like to put my thumb on the flat side of the pen for better stability where the button is located. The button should be located slightly higher. These are the reasons why I give this new scribe a one star. I so wanted to give the new scribe a five star like my older scribe, but there is absolutely nothing good to say about it as it’s really a downgrade from the previous version (I even tried to convince myself to keep it since I really wanted an upgrade). I bought the most expensive bundle with the premium leather folio (another disappointment - horrible quality. You can see my review on that one), so imagine my disappointment! I don’t know if I just got a new scribe with bad quality issues or all the new scribes are just as bad, but I’m not taking the chance to even go for an exchange. It is going back for a refund for sure! BTW, the new software update for kindle scribe came out at the beginning of December, so all the previous scribe owners can now download the new software update (new AI and active canvas) that came with the new scribe!

I’d honestly buy two of them if it made sense. I’ve had my Kindle Scribe for about 6 months and I love it. Really convenient for work as well as personal. I can keep all my notes for meetings, appts, book club etc all in once place and super organized. The writing feels pretty good on the screen. The only downside is I feel like I have to change the pen tip more frequently than I’d like. I am not pressing hard. Would definitely recommend!
