Note, as a precaution I always do this outside away from the house. I also know that the battery is not internally damaged. **Q: Charger says to connect cables when they are connected** A: This just happened to me too. It's because the charger cannot recognize it as a battery. Your battery is dead dead. It is a built in safety protocol. Fortunately it was my boat battery. I hooked it up to my car with jumpers for 10 minutes. I then i hooked up the charger. The charger immediately recognized the battery and started charging.
