Does this cup work well for going straight from breast, skipping other sippy** A: My daughter is currently 10 months old, has never taken the bottle since birth even though I returned to work when she was 5 months. She is exclusively BF. This cup works well for helping to increase fluid intake in infant, as you can control how much to tip into their mouth (straight-edge cups hide the water level, making it difficult to estimate amount to tip, resulting in spills). However, as an infant, they are not able to hold the cup on their own (and end up tipping the entire contents over their head or down the front of their shirts....) If you want a cup that they can independently drink from, this is not the cup. But if you want to help them and work with them (assisted holding), this cup worked well for us. **Q: Is there a non-plastic option for this cup? When we received this cup I had my doubts that it would work. It looks strange but it is amazing!!! The first few times I helped my 6 month old use the cup. After a couple weeks of using it, I still have to help him put his second hand on the cup but he knows how far he can tip it before it spills. He seems to really enjoy it!!This seems absolutely great for breastfed babies or those doing baby led weaning. My 8 month old daughter has never taken a bottle (we've been trying since 6 weeks), we've tried every single bottle and nipple on the market- seriously, every single one! It took a little bit of practice, and she still can't hold the cup by herself quite yet, but this is the only way we can get her to drink milk while I'm not around to nurse her. She usually laps it up like a baby kitten, which is doubly cute and entertaining. If you've got a similar situation on your hands, this cup is definitely worth a try! He refuses to drink out of them and finds them funner to play with. He has been interested in trying to drink out of our cups for some time, but they require him to tilt his head all the way back. The first time he tried the Doidy Cup, it was a success. The look on his face said it all. He was so proud that he had drank like a big boy and none had spilled on him. I do have to hold it for him but with practice I think that he will so be doing it on his own.
