I stuck it horizontally under the upper member of the window frame to protect it from the elements. I observed the readings for days. I found that the reading is higher than the actual temperature (based on Weather.com). If the temperature is above freezing, the difference is 2-3 degree C. If it's below that, it gets worse. I was very disappointed, and I wanted to change my rating from 5 to 3 stars. But I thought, maybe it's because of its proximity to the window (which is normally warmer since it's heated by interior of the house), and to the ground (since it's a basement window). So, instead, I hung it on the wire fence, which is 4 feet away from the window (not too far to get good reception) and 4 feet above the ground. And voila, I'm getting the right temperature now ! Or at least, within 0.5 degrees C. Since now it's exposed to the elements, I put tape on all gaps, except for the sensor opening, over which I put a hood. I'm still getting the right temperature. It will get only little sun since it's located in the narrow gap between houses. Still, I will observe the effect during high noon. So, I'm keeping the 5 stars.
