Good unhooking pliers
Great bluegill pliers! Or with any fish with a small mouth. Better to have these so you don't risk the fish dying.

Nice smaller size.
Nice small size for panfish. Not for removing large hooks from larger fish. As mentioned before by others, the finger holes are not dipped together. It just takes a little extra oomph to open them up for the first time. After that, they do not need to be fully closed.

Great hemostats don’t hesitate if you’re considering them.
After receiving these locking hemostats, I opened the package to inspect them slightly leary after reading the reviews. After inspecting them and unlocking them, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the reviews complaining about the difficulty unlocking them must have come from people who had never used locking hemostats before. These are comfortable to hold and the slightly higher resistance unlocking them is negligible at best. If you’ve used all metal locking hemostats before these are like a dream in comparison. Great Purchase!

Great for the price
I have a longer pair of these as well (other brand and much more expensive) but I bought a couple of these to leave in our boats so I am never without. They are good quality and work very well. A little shorter than ideal (for hooks deep in a musky or big pike) but for 90% of fish these work fantastic! Clamp them on the hook shaft and you have a ton of leverage to remove difficult hooks.
