An LED replacement for a 150W G40 (5" Globe)! *by S***S on March 30, 2017* I am very pleased to have found this LED bulb to replace the 5" Globe Incandescent above our nook area. It would take 10 of these LEDs to consume power at the rate of just one incandescent equivalent. I like that it is 3000K - 2700K to 3000K is considered a "soft white" or "warm light" similar to that of an incandescent bulb. This bulb really looks just like the incandescent bulbs I used to purchase (all too frequently) and I expect the cost to be more than off-set by both its longevity and lower power consumption. This is an early review, so I'll update and downgrade the 5 star rating if necessitated by any problems.I've been updating the lighting in our home to LED bulbs and was stuck trying to find a G40 bulb that was of sufficient illumination and that looked nice. The style of our light fixture exposes the bulb and requires it to be a nice globe shape to look presentable. Prior Amazon searches were unsuccessful until now! Why am I so excited to have finally found one and taking the time to write this review? LED bulbs are far, far superior to any compact fluorescent (CFL) bulb. I mostly prefer them because they more closely resemble the incandescent lights I grew up with. However, there is a long list of benefits over CFLs: LEDs are more energy efficient, last longer, don't contain mercury, look more like traditional incandescent bulbs, don't have a warm-up period to reach full brightness, are generally instant-on, and behave better with dimmers (although when using dimmers with some of my LED bulbs I have noticed the slightest of delays after flipping the switch for them to turn). This is by no means an all-inclusive list and I am not an expert in the field of lighting. I just know that I will never, never purchase another CFL bulb again and I welcome the warmth (not thermal warmth, but the ambiance) that LED lights have brought back to our home in the post-incandescent era. Also, in two years time we have noticed the savings on our power bill, which off-sets the initial cost. ### ⭐ Warm White? NOT! *by R***E on August 28, 2016* If this is a "warm light" bulb, then I'm The Easter Bunny. I removed an incandescent "warm white" bulb that offered wonderful ambiance, and now the room looks like an exceedingly BRIGHT WHITE hospital surgical suite. Dimmer settings notwithstanding, this bulb remains 100% BRIGHT WHITE. My entire home is filled with LED's from a wide range of manufacturers and at no time did any of those LED's ever disappoint me until this MaxLite LED shine pure white into my earthy home. I'll be better off using this as a bench light in my garage. I added two photos. One in full power dimmer mode and the other dimmer to 25%. Ugh! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ perfect *by D***O on October 20, 2017* This is the very first LED version of the large globe lamp style that I've been able to find, and it works amazingly well. The light is very bright, much more so than a halogen G40 with the same supposed incandescent wattage equivalence which I used previously. It has a reasonably warm color tone, not as yellow as a traditional incandescent but much more comfortable than the bluish ones. It responds perfectly to a dimmer switch without buzzing, flickering, delay, or staircased brightness steps.
