I didn't use any of the included hardware to attach the wood treads, instead I used bolts and nuts attached from the top-down, rather than screwing up through the treads. This worked well. The included hardware is good quality and I will save for some other project. Review: Easy install for under $100 - These risers are so sturdy, made of solid steel. The instructions a minimal, but very easy to install. The steps do not come with it. I went to my local Home Depo and purchased some thick boards and made my steps 3 ft wide.
