Did it seem to help?** A: I use mine mostly at night because it is designed to be fairly restrictive and when I wear if for say an hour or so during the day, then I can't do a lot of things with that hand. He too has arthritis throughout his hand, carpal tunnel, chronic tennis elbow combined with shoulder problems. He's 65 and has worked as a mechanic for 50 years. He started developing severe pain about 4 to 5 years ago. He's been through cortisone shots galore but he still experienced hand (especially in the thumb/wrist area). I got one for him and he was so happy with it that he now has six of them (so he still has a couple when the rest are in the wash). When worn on the right hand, the straps tighten in a way that pushes the thumb in toward the palm. I found it more uncomfortable and there is no way to change this.
