Be careful to make sure the slide looks clean without leaving residue. 4. Follow the manufacturer's directions to place a continuous refractometer ∞ hydrometer calibration standard fluid on the slide 5. Wait for 40 seconds and adjust to the salt content to 35ppt. 6.
