Accurate, Great Value
Excellent value. Straight forward, accurate, uncomplicated mechanical scale.

Accurate and inexpensive.
I have always liked Lee products. I like the idea of simple no frills designs built with good quality control. Although I have quality dies made by Redding, RCBS, Lyman and Pacific, the last 3 sets were Lee. As for the Lee Powder Scale. The Lee scale agrees with my RCBS/Ohaus 10:10 scale. I like that the 10 grain poise increment positions are more than 3 times farther apart on the Lee Scale. A 1/10 grain under or over weight is more obvious on the beam pointer of this 100 grain capacity scale compared to the 10:10 500 grain capacity beam. The grain poise and 1/10 grain setting is pretty simple after a little practice Photo shows 5.5 grains. I will likely use the Lee until I can afford a "Force Restoration " electronic scale. ($700 plus.)

Scale works as advertised
It's a replacement for my other scale that I used for nearly seven years. When I weigh 3.1 grains of pistol powder, that's what it shows. It is a very accurate scale and easy to use. I use it to weigh black powder for my rifle, shotgun and my black powder revolvers. Even though my revolvers don't really require weighing the powder charges, I like to check them when shooting in the indoor range (I usually use 12 to 14 grains at 25 meters). I highly recommend this scale.

its accurate.
First off it got 4 stars but could easily be 5 depending on the person using it. Also... I need to point out that I have a 40 year old + RCBS scale. And let me point out that I am a HUGE fan of everything LEE. To me the RCBS 505 that came and probly still comes in their kits is the gold standard. So I am judging the LEE against that. The RCBS is flat out sturdier. But I have not seen LEE stuff ever fail. I have a ceiling fan in the 'gun room' it really does not affect the RCBS... The LEE it does and the LEE takes a bit longer to settle in any case. But for ME and many of you may not agree... The LEE is a bit hard to figure out so far as readings/settings compared to the RCBS. I am sure most of that is just me being used to the RCBS. I actually have to read the instructions every time on the LEE to see how to set the thing. The RCBS is really really staightforward. Ok.. I have quit using my $200+ RCBS trimmer ( small lathe) in favor of a $15 LEE zip trim that is actually more accurate and foolproof. My RCBS luber/sizer is gathering dust cause I cast and HT coat all my bullets now and use the LEE press mount sizer. And... I use their one finger primer... I use a lot of LEE stuff.

Great scale for the price. Built really nicely. Kind of an pain to calibrate initially, but once you understand how to read it, its very easy.

Will Get the Job Done
It's a good working balance. It is very fiddly to adjust with adult-sized fingers. It has a steel ball bearing as the 10 gr. measuring weight which can be problematic to adjust. The one grain and 1/10 grain adjustment is a free sliding plastic thing with a locking button. It is difficult to change measurements without picking the scale up off your work surface so the scale has to be zeroed each time it is adjusted if you want an exact charge weight. There is no separate transfer pan included so you must unhook the one pan from the balance arm, charge your case, then re-hook your pan back on the beam for each charge It is not expensive and as it is a balance it will give an accurate weight. I would only recommend the Lee scale to a hand loader who is looking to charge 20 to 30 cartridges per hour. I can imagine loading 9mm, .45 ACP and the like could get a bit frustrating unless one is loading a dozen match rounds. After writing all that not-so-positive stuff, I have to say that this is still a good quality and very accurate powder scale.

I load some precision rounds. With my process I use a 3 check system. A Lee dipper for close A small digital scale then the final weigh is with the Lee safety scale. I have never felt that I was able to blame powder weight discrepancies on my lousy shooting. I believe in trust but verify.

Directions for use can be confusing but once mastered it is consistent and accurate. Clean out the pivot Vee with very hard and sharp scriber or thin sharp knife blade to give the beam razor blade amore precise point upon which to balance. Once you have mastered the grain poise setting system (needs persistence and practise) you will find this scale to be the most accurate and safest you have ever used. Having set the charge weight and locked the setting it is impossible to make an error unless you are a complete idiot. I have been reloading for nearly 50 yrs. This is the scale I shall use from now on, I bought a digital scale a while ago and am very disappointed it's about as consistent as a two bob watch, on investigation it appears that is the problem with them.

Works great, takes a few seconds more then a Digital scale but you dont have to worry about batteries, tar. Quick once your used to it. I recommend it.
