Review: 間違いなく最高傑作 - Slipknotの最高傑作。そして、このメンバーラインナップでの最後の作品。 前作では、Slipknotはマイルドな曲も作れることを証明した。しかしながら、激しかったリフや音作りまでマイルドになってしまった。今作では歌えるメロディが多くありつつ、メタルとして聴いていて楽しいギターリフのオンパレード。音作りもガチガチで文句なし。ライブでは披露されないが「Gematria (The Killing Name)」はSlipknot史上最高のメタルソング。リフが素晴らしい。クールな速弾きソロまである。 前作の感動ソング「Vermilion」のように、「Dead Memories」も泣ける名曲の一つ。デスメタル系が苦手な人にもお勧めできる。Corey Taylorは泣ける曲を作るのが上手い。 ラストのタイトル曲「All Hope Is Gone」は集大成と言える一曲。メンバー全員の音がはっきりと聞こえる。全く泣けるような曲ではないが、今聴くとメインで作曲していた2人を思い出して泣けてくる。自分が初めて聴いたヘヴィメタルで、当時の自分にとっては早送りだと思うくらいのイントロだった。 もう15年以上経つアルバムだが、いまだに古さを感じない。

曲の質が軽くなったという意見もあると思いますが、 stone sourが好きな自分としては非常に聴きごたえがあります。 初代アルバム、またバンド結成前に自費出版したアルバムなどに比べると、 確かにメタルとしての破壊力は劣っていると思います。 バンドの方向性も変わってきていますが、自分はこれに賛成です。 いい意味で進化、深化しているのではないでしょうか？ 4曲目はSlipKnotっぽさ、またコリィの歌唱力がよく出ている曲で、お気に入りです♪ この沈黙の4年間、またそれぞれのソロ活動としての4年間が凝縮された1枚です！！
