Sweetone in D
I bought this whistle specifically because I've seen it mentioned in other reviews that it not only has a lovely tone but is quieter than other whistles. I was looking for a whistle more suited to indoor playing and due to having M.E (a symptom of which is noise sensitivity) a whistle quieter than the D whistles I had tried previously, which due to how loud they are, find difficult to play for very long! This sweetone whistle definately has a nice sound, is comfortable to hold and is quieter than other whistles. It's not though, I've discovered, as quiet as the Clarke original D whistle, which I ordered at the same time and has a gentler and less piercing sound, which makes it better for my sensitivity. However, that point is made due to the fact I wanted this whistle for specific reasons not because I don't like the Sweetone! This Sweetone whistle is very nice and a welcome addition to my whistle collection.

Can't go wrong.
An excellent tin whistle for beginners. The tone is very nice and very pleasant to play. Clark whistles are great value for money.

Small but a beautiful sound
While it is Beautiful I ran into a problem and that if you have large hands you will probably have a problem playing it which is what I had. So I am giving it to a friend for his daughter to learn on. But all in all a good well designed whistle.

Four Stars
Decent wee whistle but does sound quite airy compared to other whistles...

Beautiful tone.Very pleased.
Great value whistle which sounds great.
User
Precisely in tune
Very pure and sweet tone over both octaves. Much more reliable than considerably more expensive whistles.

Uncomfortable ridge
This is a terrible tin whistle. Do not be attracted by either the colour or the price. For a few more quid you can buy the Waltons or Feadรณg or any whistle which has an unbroken tube. This Clarke one has the most uncomfortable ridge down the back where the metal joins together. I bought this for my 6 year old, against my better judgement and was drawn by the price.Having had a Waltons one myself as a child and having bought a Waltons one for my older daughter which we lost, I should have stuck to the tried and tested. The reviews seemed good though and none I read mentioned the joined metal and the awful ridge it creates.Tonally it seems fine, a little light in weight for my liking but probably fine for kids.

Pas terrible
La justesse n'est pas au rendez-vous.Et les notes aiguรซs difficiles ร atteindre.La flรปte a tendance ร vous amener vers les notes graves.Bien pour s'amuser, mais pas pour jouer en public.

Love the sound
I bought this as a gift for my husband and he loves it! He has been practicing evryday and I love hearing him improve daily. It has a lovely sweet tone and is great for a beginner (he does not have any other music experience and he was playing well after only a short time!)Its such a whimsical sound and I cant wait to keep hearing him play

Great sounding. As nice as I expected!
This is a hobby of mine. I have several brands and in different keys, etc. One of my fav's is the Clarke original penny whistle, with the wood fipple. I like the softer airy sound of that, but I got the sweetone hoping the fipple would be more responsive, like the Woodi, and it is. For some reason the Sweetone gets some negative criticism from experienced whistle players and I never know why. This whistle is everything I was hoping it would be. It's not quite as airy as the Clarke Original but it still has a bit of that distinct "Clarke" timbre. The Woodi whistles are easy to play in all registers--they're louder than most metal whistles--but they lack of that sharp overtone that so many traditional irish metal whistle have. To me, this Clarke Sweetone is a happy medium. I now have this in C and D. Since its response is fairly clean in all the notes, I would say it's probably a good choice for beginners as well. The only thing that divides these Clarkes from favorable opinions over traditional whistles is the conical shape. I don't mind it. That's actually one of the things I like about the Clarke whistles. I don't know if it's my favorite yet, but I love this, I'm glad I got it for a good price, the fipple makes it sound better, and if you like to add a Clarke to your collection of different whistles I'd even go for this Sweetone before the Clarke Original style.~JSV
