It'll work for an iPad. Just connects through Bluetooth. Used on my iPad mini 1st generation and iPad 4 w/ Retina Display, and had no issues.

Will this work via bluetooth on an android tablet?

I was able to pair the keyboard quickly & easily with a Samsung Galaxy android tablet, it seems to work fine though I did not test it exhaustively. (I can not guarantee it will work with your device)
