Clear glass . Opticron is a well known Japanese manufacturer., try the
Very clear veiw ,they feel good in the hand. The image has a large sweet spot. Looks to me probably %70+ of clear images with the remaining %30 shows minimal distortion. The ocular lenscaps fit loosely where the band attaches to the barrel . I own 40 or 50 pairs of binoculars, so ive replaced lenscaps on many of them ; so I had a much betterquality set to replace the factory set ,so problem solved. $12 to $15 from Amazon. The neckstrap was 1 inch wide ( cheapo). I also keep aftermarket neckstraps 2 to 2.5 in. With quick detach. $ 10 also from Amazon. Now ive got a well equipped 8x42 binocular that's ready to go.,so plan on spending another $25 to have them set up right. The focus wheel works well ,but the knob itself feels like it came off a $30 binocular. Ive heard Opticron puts all it's money in the glass ,then skips on the quality of the rest of the binocular. I'm keeping it because of its optical performance, I don't feel that it going to fall apart- I'm saying it won't take much abuse. I baby my optics, so that won't be a problem. The binoculars i received had already been opened and used a small amount. They are as good as new. Any where else it would be labeled as an open box. For less than $400 ive got a very capable set of binoculars that are now well equipped.
