## Questions & Answers

**Q: How do select the prescription strength, as there are no options?**
A: There is no way of telling thats why I returned the product.

**Q: Does anyone know what the prescription is for these? Usually there's a place to select the diopter you need, but there is no way to do that.**
A: It's under "magnification strength." Contrary to a previous answer, wearing the "wrong" prescription will not damage your eyes. If you are concerned, double check with your eye care provider. If under corrected, things will just be a bit fuzzy. If over corrected things will be weird and distorted and probably cause eye strain or give you a headache, but this is temporary. The more under/over the worse it will be, and generally it's better to be a little under. Sometimes optometrists actually purposely under correct as it helps one eye see better up close. This is no different than selling readers in +diopeter corrections.

What's really dangerous is being in/around a pool with very poor vision. I am -8 in one eye, -10 in the other. Without some kind of correction, I honestly cannot see the ground in front of me and be able to discern the edge of the pool, I could literally just walk right on and fall in. I wouldn't see a black line at all. And I definitely wouldn't see the wall. I would have a hard time seeing other swimmers passing me. I wouldn't see water on the ground/slip hazards. Outside of my home where I know where everything is and can feel my way around, I cannot safely go outside without someone to assist me. I'd say being this functionally blind without correction started around -6. So, -8 lenses actually make a world of difference for me, even if i'm under corrected by -2 in one eye. Obviously I couldn't drive, but I could definitely safely get around.

Not to mention, swimming in gas permeable lenses simply isn't an option. Even in soft lenses which can tolerate goggle suction, leaks can mean contaminating lenses with chlorine, or worse Acanthamoeba keratitis. Pretty sure most docs would agree that swimming with slightly not perfect correction is better than swimming in contact lenses.

**Q: My prescription is -2.75, should I get the -2.5 or the -3?**
A: Always move DOWN to the closest step diopter! If the calculation of your prescription shows that you should have a -2.75 (step diopter lens) then you should choose a -2.5 lens for the swimming goggles. This causes less strain and you will be unlikely to notice any significant loss of acuity within a reasonable distance. There is also a slight magnifying effect when underwater. If your prescription is -2.75, moving down is -2.5. -2.5 is a lesser strength lens than -3 for nearsighted people.

**Q: What is the RX for this goggle?**
A: Multiple ones to choose from.
