This is for those who would like a simple biography about the Queen of Crime.  Nothing in depth, but it provides a video look-see; enough perhaps, to whet your appetite for more info on Dame Agatha.

    Good overview of Agatha Christie's life

Although I have read a number of Agatha Christie novels, I didn't know much about her life.  This DVD provides a good overview of her life, her career, and her death in 1976.The DVD traces Agatha's roots in the Torquay area of England and how some childhood and young-adult events later helped shape her writings.  Many of her old haunts in Torquay are no longer standing, but the town has a walking tour of where she lived and played in her early years.Even though Christie had a 'comfortable' life by most measures, she wasn't exempt from the ups and downs of daily life. She had one child (daughter) but never bonded very well with her until late in life. Her first marriage ended in divorce, but she later found a loving husband again.  Also, the DVD mentions she was endlessly harassed by the tax authorities - as they always wanted a bigger cut of her earnings.I did enjoy seeing her various homes and tried to imagine her making her way about town (she always got involved in the local community). I didn't get a good sense of how Agatha came up with her stories though. There are hints here and there, but how did she dream up such detailed plots and vivid characters? Also, the DVD largely shows the buildings and towns where she lived, but very few of her personal effects.The DVD is worth viewing if you are a Christie fan, but will leave you wanting more.
