Premium high quality feel for less
I've never been someone to buy flagship Samsung's and iPhones for the sake of having the best of the best only to replace it in a years time, however I still wanted something that had a premium feel and was different to the boring devices everyone else has. TCL is a chinese electronics company that I had never bought anything from, but after doing my research discovered them to actually make quality products and I can say this definitely has a premium feel to it. I don't particularly suffer from headaches/eye strain but I liked the idea of a matte/no glare display and the NXTPAPER technology, which I can readily recommend after using the phone for a few weeks. This is a massive screen, and with the included case does to be honest make it difficult to cram into your trouser or coat pocket quickly so keep that in mind. The colours despite being a bit more subdued and less "offensive" to the eye are still very vibrant, and the 120Hz refresh rate carries over to the NXTPAPER ink modes, which really do look like a Kindle (with the massively increased battery life in these modes included), and it's literally impossible to get fingerprints on the screen, which by the way just feels (and sounds?) nice to use. I often catch myself admiring the display while it's playing a video if I'm cooking for example, the way the light catches (or doesn't catch it) is just very nice to look at, you kind of have to see it to appreciate it. I am someone who regrettably uses my phone in bed before sleeping, but with this phone I turn on the eye comfort & NXTPAPER modes and I can honestly say I actually fall asleep easier and quicker especially if I use it to read. It's fast and smooth with no issues switching between apps, the cameras are great, battery life is not an issue and charges quickly enough (wish it had wireless charging though, and it doesn't come with a charging plug - just a cable which is pretty standard these days), the fingerprint scanner and all the physical buttons work well and feel satisfying to use, and I actually find myself using the AI features. The case it comes with is decent and cleverly designed. There's a snug case you put the phone in, which then magnetically attaches to the also included flip case which has space for the included stylus. You'll probably want to make sure you're using the flip case that covers the screen as you won't be buying a screen protector for this phone. Speaking of the stylus, it works very well and is satisfying to use for drawing and handwriting if you are so inclined. The drawback however is how it attaches to the phone (or rather the inner case I mentioned). There are notches on the side of the case that you physically push the stylus into, but I've found it falls off easily if bumped so I generally don't have the stylus attached - it would be better if it was magnetic. I don't really game on my phone I have a PC for that, and there are other devices more tailored for it, but I did test Wuthering Waves briefly as I know that's a demanding game, and when it finally downloaded I didn't experience any stuttering. I'd say it's "almost flagship" but at half the price, and with the added technology and display I'd easily take this over a brand new iPhone or high end Samsung.

The Screen is a Masterpiece!
This is truly a remarkable device, it's very quick to set up, easy to use, feels solid and well built, and is of exceptional quality. The Screen is an absolute masterpiece, and is a sight to behold. No glare, no pesky reflections and the colours are amazing, genius!!! The phone is very responsive and quick and all the apps work perfectly with no lag. It comes beautifully packaged and includes a protective magnetic case and includes the Tpen, which is probably the best I have ever used on any device. It really is like writing on paper. Lastly, the Camera is fantastic, takes great photos, easy to use, and the results are outstanding. To Summarise its an absolutely great phone, and extremely well priced!!!

Autistic sensory issues
So, it seems like a good phone, but it's really not me compatable. I could not use the stylus as it was so noisy, even swiping with my finger was noisy on the textured screen. The screen was easier to look at than a Samsung S25 because of the dc dimming so it's great for pwm sensitive people, but it's also a little too soft (mild blurring from the texture) and it has temporal dithering. I could not look at it for long and touching it was uncomfortable, but I'm autistic and have sensory issues so that's why I describe it as not me compatable. As for the more normal type of things average people may be concerned with... It is flipping massive! The stylus holder is inconvenient, and the flip case was meh. It would have been better if it had a 6.9 inch screen and if the stylus holder could be attached either side and the flip case maybe folded at the top not the side. But this phone is so close to being good for eye strain but then fails, drop the temporal dithering and half the texture on the screen, keep it ips, and make it just a touch smaller and it would be an epic phone! So I returned it, unfortunately it did give me dizziness after about 30 mins and the screen feel was too much for my autistic sensory issues.

Excellent combination of phone and ereader
I have only had the phone a few days. However, it seems the perfect phone for me. There are various modes to choose, basically levels between colour phone and black and white ereader. In between plenty of controls over the look of the screen. The size is perfect for an ereader on my travels. As a phone it is large but feels good in the hand, not heavy or bulky. Although running android 15 it does not seem to have the private space function and also if you want to share the screen you can "cast" the screen via wifi, but plugging in a small second monitor as I sometimes do with my Samsungs does not work. The stylus is excellent and the screen cover texture is similar to paper. Unless you are an avid kindle Kobo etc fan, I would say this works very well as am ereader. Loads of memory for storage and the operation is very smooth. Battery life is very good, but I am over using it at the moment with it being new, so in normal use I think I will get a few days out of a charge, especially if I use it in colour ink mode. The accessories seem well thought out. A case plus magnetic cover. There is an attachable tube to keep the stylus. Even with all attached, I don't find it over bulky, and the case is very, "note book" like.

Brilliant idea
The idea behind this phone is fantastic, and when it works as it should, it feels like a phenomenal device. The camera performs decently in natural light and the speakers are impressively loud. The screen is vibrant when in normal mode. However, within just a couple of days of light testing, the performance became very slow and choppy. Despite the advertised 120Hz refresh rate, it often felt closer to 30Hz and freezing, which isn’t right. To add to the concern, my unit arrived unsealed, leaving me to believe I may have received a defective one.

PROs -Good price compared to alternatives with a pen -Very nice smartphone overall - The matte screen is beautiful, with zero reflections. Colors are astonishing - The display has a soft, paper-like texture that you can feel when touching it—very pleasant - Reduced eye strain thanks to 4 modes: normal mode, color-reduced mode, full black-and-white, and E-Ink mode - Larger-than-usual screen, making reading more comfortable - The camera is good - Plenty of storage and RAM - The EMR pen (to be purchased separately) is excellent. I bought this phone to replace my Samsung Note 8, and I’m not disappointed—it feels even more like writing on paper than Samsung’s S Pen (which I also like) - The pen slot is attached to the case. I was skeptical at first, but it works very well - Horizontal split-screen is supported natively-nice! - The pre-installed handwritten notes app is very good - Good battery CONs - no usb-c hdmi output, and casting to tv does not work very well (only u-tube ...) - The size and height (especially with the 2 cases) might be an issue for some users - Ships with Android 15 instead of Android 16 - No zoom box feature in the native note-taking app--a clear disappointment - Not yet the same as an e-ink device -but a lost faster, and still a lot better than traditional screens

Absolute beast of a phone, although most of the specs are mid range, it's more than enough for the average phone user, the cameras are great, battery life solid, the screen is top notch, it comes with a supplied case.
