This has happened to me once or twice but if you turn the cap anticlockwise until it drops down then turn clockwise to seal there's no leakage and filling is made easier with the built in handle. I was going to only give 4 stars for storage but this is for carrying water not hiking equipment and the storage is adequate for a phone and keys. Overall a good quality product that does its intended job well.
