Barely 4/5. Great battery life & connectivity > Buttons could feel better & it scratches easily
It's an adorable little novelty item and is functional, but I expected a bit higher quality from this brand given how often I hear it praised. This is my first 8bitDo controller and I'm slightly disappointed. It's not the most comfortable controller, but that's to be expected from size alone. I know there's only so much you can do with such a small controller, but I guess I was hoping it would feel more like a tiny Gameboy Advanced or a plastic Gameboy Micro and less like a keychain fidget toy. The buttons are the most disappointing part, along with how easily it scratches. Purely cosmetic, but the mount clip has already left black marks on the controller so I'm sure it will otherwise get scratched up pretty easily, which is disappointing for something advertised as a keychain :/ It sometimes struggles with multiple quick inputs (I checked and it's not a problem with the touch screen buttons) and the D pad is concave which probably makes it easier to feel bc the edges are raised, but also makes it easier to rock in another direction when trying to go back and forth, like accidentally moving up or down when trying to go left to right and back. It's still easier than using the touch screen D pad tho. I think separate direction buttons would be better for a controller like this, rather than a D pad. The shoulder buttons are very clicky (loud) which is fun as a fidget but probably annoying if you're using it around other people and need to use the shoulder buttons a lot lol. The face buttons and D pad are quiet enough, but if used for long term play will make your fingers sore, especially from the face buttons if you're like me and subconsciously end up hitting the buttons at the joint of the thumb. My hands are small so I don't struggle too much with finding a comfortable enough position to hold it, but it's actually impossible to press the buttons very lightly due to the springs or whatever keeps the buttons raised. I imagine that's better for a controller that you will likely have in your pocket or bag and hopefully it means they won't get worn out too easily, but it makes them feel more hard. The start button is the only one that will turn the controller on or off, but and I kind of wish it had a designated power button or switch on the side instead, but that's not a huge deal. I also wish it worked with iOS so i could use it with my iPad, but i suppose asking for it to work with iOS and Android is too much. I appreciate how once you get it connected properly it reconnects immediately when you turn it back on. I also appreciate that it goes into sleep mode after 15 minutes of no input to preserve battery life. I've been using it plenty for around 5 hours and the battery is still going strong so that's pretty impressive given it's size and weight. I'm sure it will live up to the 8hr battery life it claims, but I'll update if it stops holding a charge too soon. It weighs practically nothing, but I'm not sure that's a good thing because that combined with its small size and the texture of the back of the controller makes it difficult to keep a grip on. The back feels a lot like a Switch Joycon, but the front is a shiny smooth plastic that has some natural stick to it. I almost wish this was reversed because it really wants to just slide out of my hand, but it hasn't yet and it does come with a silicone strap that you can keep around your wrist to keep it from falling on the floor which is nice and it still fits in the mount with the strap attatched. It also at least doesn't feel like you can crush or bend the controller with your bare hands lol. I'm not sure how well it would handle if accidentally stepped on, but could probably handle being sat on just fine. I actually got this controller specifically for the phone mount, which is mostly very nice. It stays on the phone well and doesn't slide around too easily and the controller is the perfect size to fit on my phone. The mount also helps give the controller the weight it needs to feel much more steady to use when attatched to a phone. Even without attaching it to a phone it makes it more comfortable to hold since you can hook your fingers around it. My main problem with the mount is the back of the controller does not fit flat against the phone, even though it has a pad on the back that seems like its supposed to. The controller is angled slightly downward even after I tried to push it in further. I was afraid it would break the mount if i pushed it any harder. I may have a defective mount, but I'm not entirely sure. The pieces were definitely clicked together though and not loose. I'm also not entirely sure why the mount is two pieces. I guess it makes it less likely to break if shoved in a bag or pocket in two pieces instead of one since the part that attatches to the back of the controller feels a little flimsy, but that also means it's easier to lose one part. Maybe you are intended to just keep the small part attached to the controller, but you can't charge it while attatched. I'm not TOO worried about it scratching my phone since it's plastic, but maybe if I dropped it on the front it could do some damage to the screen, especially since it doesn't fit flat against it and instead is at a slight angle. However when the pad does touch the screen it ends up sometimes sensing it as a finger touch. Overall, maybe i got my hopes up too high 😅

Perfect for what it's for
Perfect for simple games which is all I wanted. This attaches to the phone perfectly and gives you tangible buttons that you can feel to play simple games like Tetris or Mario. Function is great, no lag. Cheap solution vs a backbone. Perfect size even for big hands.

Tip for Delta emulator on the iPhone.
8Bitdo Zero 2 it's so tiny that I'm amazed there's even a battery in here. I would totally recommend this to anyone who plays emulator on their iPhone connectivity and lag is nonexistence. And the fact that you just clamp this on your phone so you get that tactile feeling is amazing. My only recommendation is that in order to make this truly compatible with delta emulator on the iPhone go into each of the system setting and at a virtual controller so that the screen will stay on the top.

Not compatible with Procreate!!
Cute size! However this version isn’t compatible with Procreate if you want to use it for shortcuts

You Should
I love this thing, perfect for GBA RPG's. Fits well on my Iphone 16e. By itself it is definitely to small for my comfort but clipped to the phone is just right.

great pocket controller for on the go gaming!!
I love this little controller. It's convenient to just pop in my pocket and have it when I'm bored somewhere. I dont have small hands but it doesn't feel crampy to me, but I wouldn't play for 10 hours with it anyway. The only reason I won't give it 5 stars is the clip thing is gimmicky, it really doesn't sit well on my phone and maybe because my phone has a case but I never use it that way even though that's why I bought it.

Perfect for emulators
Bought this as a gift and they love it. It works great as a physical controller for emulators. The pairing is seamless and the battery lasts a long time
