Review: Simple and Effective with multiple uses. - Updating my previous review below. I apparently missed the most interesting feature. You can see the LED lens at the end....that's the flashlight. Obviously the more opaque lense in front is the 'nightlight' or should I say lantern feature. It's quite bright. Too bright in fact to be a nightlight. Ah....but that's the trick. When you go to bed there is a motion sensor and so when you have the lights out then are in bed, in about 30 seconds or perhaps a minute the light dims. Then it dims more. So it's bright and effectively a 'lantern' or lamp if you will in the room but then automatically dials down the light to a simple nightlight. Similarly if you get up in the dark it immediately gets brighter. It seems to be pretty good at discerning whether you are simply rolling over in bed vs getting up. Anyway I thought this was the neatest feature. Even if you don't think it's valuable for you, your kids will. --------------------------------------------------- Great product. Simple and effective. Plug it into a wall socket and you've got a great night light....light can select between several colors. You'll never wonder where the flashlight is when the lights go out because the night light will automatically come on....auto emergency lighting. Then just pull it out of the electrical outlet and use the flashlight feature. LEDs will mean long light. You could use for either a lantern or a flashlight in the dark. I guess I won't have to try to remember where I put the flashlight anymore. I'm headed out on a business trip next week and might take it along for the hotel. I hate that hotel rooms seem to have two versions of light....completely pitch black or leave a light on and too light.
Review: Red Cross Emergency Lights - I have ordered a number of these lights because they are just great for what I need when the electricity goes off. You don't have to do anything once you plug these in. They give off quite a bit of light to be so small and light weight. They are great for college dorms because you don't have to worry about a bunch of batteries and the power that they give off is great. I wish that they where in stock more often because I try to give them as gifts. These are so worth the cost that I paid for them.

**Q: I want to use this in a bed room but i dont want the night light. i just want the emergency light if power goes out. can i turn the night light off?**
A: Another seller answered this question, so I'm sending you their answer.  Since the item is designed to run in emergencies there would have to be a way to switch it off and keep the power saved .  Thank you for your purchase.
Here's the answer......
 Yes, simply turn the switch on the side from auto to off and the night light will not come on. Set it to off. With the switch set to off there is no light until the power goes off then the light comes on.

**Q: We recently purchased one of these and i really like it. but---what usb charging? nothing anywhere on the unit or instructions mentions usb charging!**
A: I don't have one with USB, but I believe its purpose so you still have USB power even when your power is out.  One use would be to charge your cell phone even though power is out.

**Q: Are the rechargeable batteries Lipo4?**
A: I don't know what type exactly when you say: Lipo4, in the description it says: 1 Lithium Polymer batteries required. (included)

**Q: Mine doesn't turn colors, just a gleaming white, does it do this automatically?**

I have ordered a number of these lights because they are just great for what I need when the electricity goes off. You don't have to do anything once you plug these in. They give off quite a bit of light to be so small and light weight. They are great for college dorms because you don't have to worry about a bunch of batteries and the power that they give off is great.
