Is this tape nice and thick? My last tape was thin and broke when bending it to check grade.

I don't use it much and couldn't locate it to check the blade thickness directly. The one I use most of the time of many that I have is the "Komelon 7125IE Monster MagGrip Inch/Engineer Scale 25-Foot Measuring Tape with Magnetic End" If the base below where the blade enters is too deep for you, its can easily be cut or ground off. Hope this helps.

What does "power return" mean?

I believe the power return refers to the lock on it. You lock it into place and then when you unlock it it returns. This tape is amazing. I've used it a ton
