It comes in cartridge. Take out the plastic window. Look inside and you will see the old cartridge ribbon. Make note of how it fits in there. Pop it out and replace with new one. **Q: does the paper have to be thermal** A: The unit I'm selling uses red/black ink rollers instead of a thermal print head, so you would not need thermal paper for at least the Model FR-2650A. I believe that's the same for the FR-2650A Plus, as that prints red and black as well. **Q: How to load paper tape** A: There's a slit in the back of the machine. Guide paper into that slit and press the "feed" button in the front and it should go in. If it doesn't, make sure the paper edge is even and hold the paper going into the slit firmly while pressing the feed button.
