## Description

When Tatsumi set off for the Capital, it was with fantasies of earning riches for his poverty-stricken hometown. Instead, his friends were murdered and Tatsumi finds himself at the center of a bloody revolution. With an evil Prime Minister, the Secret Police, and the armies of an Empire on one side, and the elite assassins known as Night Raid and a handful of rebels on the other, it might sound like an impossible battle for Tatsumi's new allies to win. However the playing field is leveled with the addition of a legendary set of unstoppable weapons, the Imperial Arms. Unfortunately, to use an Imperial Arm is practically a death sentence in itself, for while the Arms are indestructible, few wielders can survive using them for long!Akame ga Kill the Complete Collection contains anime episodes 1-24.Akame ga Kill Complete Collection Blu-ray

Review: Maybe not the “best” but my favorite anime - Akame ga kill may not be the “best” anime I’ve ever seen but it is probably my favorite because it is the most entertaining from a purely enjoyable to sit and watch. This anime takes a very unique and realistic approach to fighting. For example none of the members from the team of main characters is safe. Anyone can die at any time. I also really enjoyed seeing the “villains” be a team of people who believe in what they are doing and have a bond. Both sides genuinely believe they are on the side of justice. That being said there is some “villains” who are indeed evil but at the same time there are those who see themselves as doing what’s right. The only truly evil people in my opinion are Honest and his son Syura, who both are just terrible humans. I really like all the characters. My top 5 is, in no order, Mine, Leone, Wave, Tatsumi, and Bols. Mine won me over from the start and only got better as it progressed and if I had to pick a favorite it would be her. I thought her character was really well done and her voice actor did phenomenal. Her development throughout the show in my opinion was the best and most touching. Leone was another that won me over from the start and she stayed solid over time. I thought her personality was cool and again her character was just very well done, and her voice actor was perfect. She’s gives off such a “cool big sister” vibe to all the other members of Night Raid. Wave is the one I felt for. He was a very genuinely good person and from the first second I saw him I felt a strong connection with him. Tatsumi is solid and although I don’t really have much to say about him he just does his part and although not flashy he needs to be there. Bols is another Wave. He is just a genuinely nice person doing his job to the best of his ability cause he believes he is doing what’s right. Spoiler alert his death is maybe the most surprising and probably the most emotional of anyone. Lubbock is amazing too, but unlike Mine and Leone, he starts off slow and then exponentially grows on you which may be why he doesn’t quite crack the top 5, but it’s really hard to rank a bunch of great characters, almost like trying to differentiate between a bunch of different shades of blue that all look the same. Lubbock has some of the coolest kills, and when he turns the tables on Syura it can’t help but make you happy. Akame is a solid character but for some reason she just kinda goes unnoticed much like Tatsumi because she just has a reserved personality. She is great don’t get me wrong it’s just compared to others she just didn’t have anything to really set her apart other than being a great fighter which pretty much all of them were. Esdeath is a mix cause she is evil but at the same time I can’t help but think she is a product of her upbringing but shows signs of compassion towards those she cares for such as the one she loves and her Jaegers. Kurome is just like her sister Akame, just too many others of greatness overshadowing them despite the feeling that they were meant to be a bigger focus. Seryu Ubiquitous... is the only character I absolutely despise despite the fact I really like her character and if you haven’t seen it yet I won’t explain, but I’m sure anyone whos seen it knows exactly why I despise her. I hate her while at the same time pity her but from the anime’s standpoint she was well designed and executed but my personal feelings towards her are hate and it all started at episode 6 if you need help understanding. I honestly thought she HAD to convert to Night Raid when I first saw her cause she was so innocent and gung-ho about “justice”, and she, again, really does believe she is doing what is right. Her imperial arms, Koro, is weird but cool. There is some weird creepy characters and things that happen on occasion that are a little ridiculous, but overall it’s just incredible. The animation is superb. The action and movements are very fluid and smooth, and the blood and gore is pretty well balanced which is rare in animation cause usually it is either overdone and the blood is exaggerated(Mortal Kombat style) and others censor too much to where there’s little to no blood where blood should be. That being said there is tons of fighting and tons of blood but the amount as I said is pretty well done in relation to wounds and injuries sustained. Akame ga Kill likes to take expectations and turn it on its head. I can’t tell you how many times you expect someone to die then they don’t, then you don’t expect someone to die and they do, you think that a guy is gonna be good then they turn out to be bad, but the way it really confuses you is there will be people who you think they look evil and then they actual are and vise versa so you never can judge anyone until you see what they actually do. Take the Jaegers, you think cause they are the “bad guys” that they will be bad but for the most part they actually aren’t they are just fighting for a different cause which when you get right down to it the reality of a lot of wars isn’t necessarily a fight between good and evil(sometimes it is) but we live in a society that needs a “good guy” and a “bad guy” and sometimes that means depending on who you are talking to the good guys my be either side and as a result the bad guys are the other, but the reality may be that both sides are fighting because it’s what they were ordered to do by there superior and while the motive of the superior may be evil that doesn’t make the warriors evil they may be great people who are legitimately fighting for their lives against an enemy that intends to take theirs. In other words good guys fighting each other out of duty despite whether they understand or know what they are fighting for. One thing specifically that I greatly appreciate is that this does something that so many shows/movies are afraid to... show the realities of war. For whatever reason our society romanticizes over war and war heroes and we lose sight of the horrors of war and we get a reality check that just because you have strong emotions toward someone that won’t save their life, being a hero doesn’t always mean survival, winning comes with losses, and even if you win it doesn’t mean things become a fantasy world. Being a good person that everyone likes isn’t a defense and as much as some people criticize it because “main characters” die, but when a smaller rebellion attacks an empire what else would you expect that’s the cost of change. There are ALOT of characters that are hard to see die but that’s reality for you and that’s why seeing a glimpse of the reality of war from time to time helps ground people and remove any foolish longing for war. This is not suitable for kids though. Language isn’t too bad as a whole but certain characters such as Syura will use more and although he is the main one to use the “s” word, there are several others who use it but it’s much less often and most other language is mild. The blood and gore is pretty strong, and although thats part of what makes it entertaining and awesome it is also a little too much gore for kids. I’m usually pretty lenient towards kids and violence but this one is more for an older audience. There is the typical female “character designs” as far as sexual stuff goes and a few sexual scenes including a few non detailed nudity shots that aren’t too graphic but are also not appropriate for younger audiences. The action and fight scenes are top notch and this will be the go to anime for me if I want to watch something entertaining.
