Not good value
This CCTV system is a fairly comprehensive system and the 4 cameras should easily cover a the exterior of a small home. For me, it is perfect for coverage as I have an offset garage which is very difficult to see the front of so the 4th camera gives me that extra peace of mind. I'm not a professional electrician or installer so I did get someone in to do it so I can't comment on the ease of installation. The cameras do feel a bit on the cheap side and feel lightweight but the cheap kind of lightweight. Everything seems to work at the moment so I can't comment of complain about the longevity yet, but I always have the concern in the back of my mind about durability. Image quality is good and a step up from their 2K cameras I've used. I do have the same comment though that it doesn't feel like a true 4K when viewing on the app. I'm wondering if there is a compression happening when viewing. I've used the app before so am very familiar with it. Adding these cameras was easy since I already had an account. The app is a little clunky but perfectly usable. What's great is that it's all local storage with their systems so no cloud or subscriptions if you don't want, there is still the option if you do want it though. My biggest gripe about the app is that you can't download clips easily. You need to record it in the app, which then sends it to the media tab in the app after which you can download it. Feels like unnecessary steps when I just want to download a single clip. It does have the advantage of being able to sort of splice multiple together but the negatives outweighs the positives for me. Overall, the system does work and works well. I've knocked off a star as frankly, it's too expensive for the quality you are getting and does make it difficult to recommend as you can get better systems for this price.

Brilliant home cctv system, all needs wiring up and setting up, once done, you are secure
I picked up the Anlapus 4K Wired CCTV Camera System after looking for a home security setup that would not require a monthly subscription fee, and after several months of use I have no regrets. The 8 channel DVR kit comes with 4 cameras and a pre-installed 1TB hard drive, which means you can get started straight away without buying anything extra. The image quality at 8MP is noticeably better than the 1080p systems I looked at, and number plates and faces are clear enough to be genuinely useful if something were to happen. Night vision reaches around 24 metres using 6 infrared LEDs, and the black and white footage in low light is consistent and clear, covering driveways and garden areas without obvious blind spots. The AI detection is one of the more useful features on this system. It does a reasonable job of distinguishing between a person or vehicle and things like tree movement, pets or passing headlights, which means the push notifications and email alerts that come through are worth acting on rather than being a source of constant false alarms. You can also set privacy masking zones to block out areas like a neighbour's garden from being recorded, which is a practical touch that I found straightforward to configure through the app. The cameras carry an IP66 rating, meaning they handle rain, dust and temperature swings from -10°C to 55°C without issue. Build quality feels appropriate for the price, the housings are not flimsy, and having run them through a wet winter and a warm summer they show no signs of deterioration. For a wired system like this, longevity tends to come down to the DVR and the hard drive more than the cameras themselves, and the drive can be expanded to up to 8TB if needed. The H.265+ compression helps by reducing storage use by around 50% compared to older formats, which extends how far back your recordings reach before the drive begins to overwrite them. Setup takes some patience given that you are running cables, but once done the system is stable and requires little ongoing attention. Remote viewing via phone, tablet or PC works reliably through the app, and the built-in audio recording adds a useful layer of context to footage if you ever need it as evidence. For a one-off purchase with no recurring costs, this represents good value for a 4K wired setup covering home or small business use.

Reliable 4K security system with excellent image quality
I received this system for home security setup and was impressed by how clear the footage looks, especially compared to older 1080P systems. Daytime image quality is sharp, and the night vision performs much better than expected. Pros => true 4K footage captures clear detail, including faces and number plates => AI human and vehicle detection reduces random false alerts => night vision is strong and stays clear even in darker areas => wired setup feels stable and reliable for continuous recording => 1TB hard drive included, ready for 24/7 recording straight out of the box => remote viewing app works well for checking cameras while away => weatherproof cameras handle outdoor conditions without issues => no monthly subscription fees, which is a big plus long term Cons => installation takes more effort compared to wireless systems due to cable routing Overall, this is a solid CCTV system for anyone wanting reliable home or business security without ongoing costs. The image quality and smart detection features make it feel much more premium than expected. Highly recommend.

A mixed bag. A good system let down by a shoddy app and high price.
I've tested quite a lot of Anlapus' products now but this is my first time testing a wired CCTV system from them. In fact, it's my first time testing and using any sort of wired CCTV system. The kit comes modestly boxed with all the bits you need. Data and Power and transmit over sets of twin cables with one plug for data and the other for power. The cable runs are long and weatherproof so even larger houses shouldn't have an issue with installation. The image quality from these cameras is pretty good. The higher resolution is a huge benefit and them being wired means you don't suffer from low bitrate compression artefacts like most wifi cameras do. The IR night vision is very good and a must for any CCTV camera setup like this. I've written in the past about my mild disappointment with Anlapus' "VSees" app. While I fully understand that a big name brand may choose to use their own app, there is nothing unique about this system that justifies using a proprietary app over the SmartLife platform. It is also disappointing to see next to no integration with popular home assistant/AI platforms like Google Home, Alexa and Apple Home. This system is very much a old school CCTV system with some surface level "smart" capability tagged on as an after thought. The whole kit is currently priced at £237.99 which is quite frankly just too expensive. I have no clue whether this is due to the currently high prices of DRAM or if Anlapus have just missed the mark on pricing. They themselves sell similar systems with 3-axis cameras for sub £200. It's quite hard for me to recommend this item at it's full RRP. I would highly recommend waiting for a sale.

Crisp 4K footage, sensitive AI alerts, strong night vision, and large local storage
I installed this 4K wired CCTV system around my home, placing the cameras on the driveway, back garden, side entrance, and garage area. After several weeks of use, it feels like a proper upgrade from older 1080p systems, especially in terms of clarity and reliability for full time surveillance. The 8MP 4K image quality is sharp, especially during daytime. I can clearly read number plates at the driveway and easily recognise faces within a reasonable distance. The improved resolution also helps when zooming into recorded footage, where details stay usable instead of turning pixelated like lower resolution systems. Night vision performance is solid thanks to the IR LEDs, giving a clear black-and-white view up to around 80ft. In practice, my driveway and garden are well covered even in complete darkness, and motion remains fairly smooth rather than grainy. It’s reliable enough for identifying people and vehicles at night, which is exactly what matters in a security setup. The AI human and vehicle detection is one of the strongest features in real-world use. On my setup, it significantly reduced false alerts from wind, trees, or animals, only triggering when a person or vehicle actually enters the monitored area. Notifications arrive quickly on my phone, and playback jumps directly to relevant events, which makes reviewing footage much easier. The included 1TB hard drive works well for continuous recording, and with H.265+ compression, storage efficiency is much better than older DVR systems. With four cameras recording 24/7, I typically get around 20 days of footage before it starts overwriting, while motion only recording extends that further. The wired setup also ensures stable, uninterrupted recording with no WiFi dropouts or lag.

Solid camera setup once configured
I wanted something sturdier than the plastic door-bell camera we had, so I cabled this 8 channel Anlapus kit round the house last Sunday while the kids “helped” by tangling themselves in cable. The 4K feed really is sharp, I could read the neighbour’s bumper sticker from the loft monitor though I pretended not to. Night shifts mean I sometimes pull onto the drive at 3am and it’s comforting to see the screen glowing with the black and white night view, the six IR LEDs picking out the dog sniffing round the bins 60 feet away. And the AI alert that pings my phone only when a person or vehicle wanders in works a treat: no more heart-stopping buzz just because the cat launched itself at a moth. But do leave an hour to fiddle with the privacy zones, the menu is a bit clunky and I hit the wrong option twice.
