This gate latch allows the user to lock and unlock the gate from both sides of the gate with a padlock. The locking point is located in the middle of the post between the gate and the post. This unique locking point allows the user to swing the padlock to the front or the back side of the gate to lock or unlock it. It also features levers in the front and rear that allow the user to easily unlatch the latch from both sides of the gate. No more need for a string or reaching over your gate. It also has an elongated mouth to allow for changes in the weather which cause your gate to change its strike position. There is a unique padlock storage hole in the front of the latch that allows the user to store their padlock there when they want the gate to be used by friends, the gardener, the pool guy or the pizza delivery person. This gate latch makes entry and exiting through your gate easy. For all the features of the Dual Sided Gate Latch to work properly the manufacture recommends a 1" minimum gap between your gate and your post. For gates without a 1" gap the manufacture recommends that the installer notches the gate. But this latch has smaller screws holding it; which also only require a Phillips screwdriver to remove (if you're really worried about security...)Again, for the price, I'm satisfied.
