Xerox VersaLink C505/S Color Multifunction Printer, Amazon Dash Replenishment Enabled

We purchased this printer/copier a little over a year ago and it's been nothing but trouble through most of the year! Maybe all equipment is built to fail nowadays but the "cyan-reinsert error message" began early and has not stopped. We have followed the tech manual for this error, purchased an extra cyan drum cartridge a couple of months ago for an extra $76 expense and followed all the instructions from the tech support team (who were very nice but the "fix" didn't last!) That "fix" coincided right when our one year warranty ran out so we thought everything was fine and didn't exercise our warranty rights. I'm the admin and was given the latitude by the board to choose any copier in the $2,500 range. I chose this one and now I can tell you they do not think very highly of Xerox. In their defense, we didn't spend the BIG bucks to get the service contract, or the extended warranty nor did we choose to spend more BIG bucks to get their toner - even though we use high quality compatible toner - not refills! So, if you choose this one, be prepared to spend lots more to keep it running.

For a $1,500+ printer this is a huge disappointment. Out of the box the colors are faded and washed out. I spent an entire weekend tweaking settings both on the printer and on the computer trying to get it to look right without success. I even had a Xerox tech person come out; 2 hrs later he was able to darken EITHER the printer OR the copier, but not both. So I can only use 1 of the 2 main features I bought the machine for. I had high hopes, but will be sending this back.
