Product Description Water remaining on pool covers for an extended period adds extra weight and can cause ripping or tearing resulting in costly repairs or replacement. The Little Giant APCP-1700 115-volt, 1/3 hp, 1745 gph pump removes water from pool covers, boat covers or rooftops - providing added protection from prolonged accumulation of precipitation. The APCP-1700 easily attaches to a standard 3/4" garden hose for effortless water removal. This pump is equipped with a 1/3 hp energy-efficient, permanent-split capacitor (PSC) motor and 25' cord. The -APCP-1700 activates in approximately 2" of water and shut-off when the water level falls to approximately 1". The APCP-1700 has a wide, weighted base design for added stability. The APCP-1700 is equipped with a 1" FNPT discharge and can be connected to 1" piping for areas that frequently get heavy rain falls (1" to 2" per hour) for increased performance.Protect your investment! Take the pump indoors when temperatures fall below 32 °F as the hose can freeze with water in it preventing water from being expelled from the pump. This can cause the pump to run until the water in the hose melts which can result in excess strain and damage to the motor. Freezing water expands and can cause the pump to crack during freezing weather. Clean the pump yearly to keep your pump running smoothly. Review: Expensive but worth it - Expensive but worth it. I got 4 years out of my last one so I just bought the same model again. They come with 3 year warranty I think. Worked very well till the end to dewater my in ground pool cover in Florida. I really liked the sensitivity and design of the float switch and its magnetic contacts. It was easy to clear leaves and pine needles from the impeller area. There was some minor fiberglass flaking near the end but nothing structural. Only reason I had to replace it was a melted capacitor which is proprietary and the average person can't obtain one. I hope I get 4 more years out of this new one.

**Q: I have a good bit of leaves in the fall that gets on my pool cover. Will this get clogged up fairly easy and not pump good?**
A: I have a large tree near my pool and leaves frequently fall onto the cover. Clogging has not been a problem for me. It wont suck them up into the hose but they seem to collect around the bottom of the pump.

**Q: I have a wayne pump that is constantly having its weep hole plugged and it stops working until I clear it. does this little giant have the same issue?**
A: The weep hole on the Little Giant also gets plugged.I solved the problem by stretching a large size pantyhose over the entire pump, made openings for the cord and hose connection and used hot melt glue to keep them from fraying.The stocking blocks out all of the small stuff since it acts like a filter,but it'll only last for one season.I've been doing this for several years and it works great.In fact I need to do it tomorrow for this coming off season.I also have a leaf net over the top of the winter cover and the cover pump is between the winter cover and the leaf net.

**Q: Can it be used in Norway (230v)?**
A: Check with mfr, they also make a 230V 50HZ CE version

**Q: DO you think could be used as an auxiliary bilge pump on an 18 foot boat sitting in a wet slip in case the 12volt system pump stops working?**
A: That is a great idea.  I've got a leaky 26' skiff that may be a candidate for an aux. pump, if it will fit through the hatch opening into my bilge.  The wide base may be a problem but it's perfect for a pool cover.

Expensive but worth it. I got 4 years out of my last one so I just bought the same model again. They come with 3 year warranty I think. Worked very well till the end to dewater my in ground pool cover in Florida. I really liked the sensitivity and design of the float switch and its magnetic contacts.
