I use journals every day. Since I was on the fence, I purchased them both. Comparing them to each other, its no contest. If you can see my photos, this is the one on the right. Leather is excellent heavy, yet pliable quality for a journal, and I know this one will keep forever. It stays open nicely so you don't have to hold it down while you are writing. I didn't notice the small blemish on the cover (see pic) because it looks like it belongs there, and it will suffer abuse at my hands. The pages are generous, you could easily draw with a hard or soft lead and not see it on the other side of the page. Not so good for watercolors I imagine. I have a heavy hand, and use several fountain pens with several colors of ink and have not experienced bleed through on this journal. The pictures should also show another Amazon purchase of a tobacco pouch of matching leather grain, that I use for 4 different colors of disposable fountain pens at a time. My point is that the leather is exactly the color you see, and the nice quality makes it so easy to blend with other fine leathers. It is important to purchase from a company that will still be there anytime I need to purchase refills. Shipping time and condition was very good.
