We have much better (ie more expensive) testers at work but those are thousands of dollars. Not that fair to compare this to those, but I did find this unit a bit quiet in tone which isn't an issue for troubleshooting the security, network and phone lines in our home. But in a loud data center/network hub the fans would easily drown out the tone.Simple enough to use, was able to track the connectivity issue I was having without having to bring a specialist with specialised equipment for a fraction of the troubleshooting travel fee. Made a new cable, tested the connectivity, re-ran it and called it good. And now have a new tool to keep in my toolbox . Great buy for someone with a small business network/phone system that doesn't have the budget for the more expensive testers.
