Review: Bought a pair October of 2019, Just Received 2nd Pair and Couldn't be Happier! - So my first pair were bought in late October of 2019, I was actually working at desertcart as a Manager and I wanted a comfortable pair of shoes to walk in and I still wanted to wear nice-ish clothing to work. I read a lot of reviews back then and most mentioned that they wouldn't last more than a couple months. For $30 I thought that was fine; as long as they lasted through the Chicago Winter I'd be a happy customer. Plus they were advertised as waterproof which was a factor in my purchase. (They are waterproof and they aren't, they protect your feet from slush and snow but if it's raining you may want to cover the fur.) So as of February 9th, 2021 I have continued to wear that same pair from Late Fall to Early Spring. I've put about 10-12 months of use into these shoes. At desertcart I'd wear a step counter and I was walking about 5 to 8 miles 4-5 days a week. I shovel my driveway with these shoes. I wear these shoes out on dates (and get complimented). These shoes look good, feel good, and WILL last you at least a year. I honestly believe I could get another year or two, but I'm just giving you my honest review based off of my own experience. So the shoes last a pretty long time in a city that definitely isn't new to getting heavy snowfall. But how do the new shoes compare to the old ones? I have only noticed 2 differences since putting them on this morning about 2 hours ago. 1.) The fur is much thicker and provides much better insulation. Which is due to how much I've worn my previous pair I assume. 2.) The soles do provide better grip on ice. Obviously wearing a shoe for over 6 months will wear out the rubber soles a bit. Long story short... Other than wear and tear, the shoes are exactly the same aside from their color. If you want a cheap pair of shoes that will last you for at minimum a year, there really isn't much other options. These shoes are wonderful, I have referred so many friends and co-workers to buy a pair. If these shoes ever are discontinued I know I will be purchasing all of their color options and enough to last me at least another 10-12 years. So probably 6 pairs or so. Aside from my Sperry's Striper II's which are also waterproof, these are my 2nd favorite pair of shoes. Notes: I worked as an desertcart Manager, however I am no longer employed with or affiliated with desertcart in any way. This review was NOT based on receiving the product for free. (Total cost for 2 pairs was around ~$70) I do not write reviews often, I will only write a review when I really really love a product or really really hate a product. The shoes fit exactly to size, based on 2 separate purchases.
Review: I am inpressed and very pleased - UPDATE 9/29/2020 - I have been wearing the second pair I bought that is a different color. I love the first ones so much I bought more. These are really nice also. Just as good a fit and light but sturdy. The first pair is holding up very well also and look very good. This is a great boot and and an outstanding company. You can not go wrong with these boots. After wearing these boots for almost two weeks, I can say I am satisfied. They offer much more comfort than most – great fit. They do not feel clunky or heavy - but at the same time – they are rugged and sturdy while walking, working and climbing over heavy rocks. By accedent they got the water proof test and passed. They are easy to clean and not hot even though it is over 80 degrees here in Texas. I don't know what the boot strings are made of - but they do not come loose like waxed ones do but resist water. They look like they cost much more than they did and the color/texture means I can wear them to restruants and outings (when we can do that again). I have ordered a pair for my son and I know he will be pleased.

**Q: Do these boots have downdraft so that my feet don't sweat and smell?**
A: Honestly, in my opinion, I don’t think these boots vent very well. My feet do get sweaty if I do a lot of walking in these boots.

**Q: Do these boots run big?**
A: I ordered a size 10.5 and it was too big, so I ordered a size 10 and it was too small. When you put them next to each other, the size difference is huge. The shoes aren't marked by size either, so it seems like a random guess when you order them. Not sure what's going on. Returning them both and just going elsewhere.

**Q: Are the soles rubber so they do not slip? The grip looks good but I bought a pair with plastic grip and I slide all over the place in them.**
A: I don't know what the others are talking about. My husband carried our 3 kids down a mountain about 100 yards or so during a snow storm, up and down to take each one at a time. He was moving the fastest of the whole group. Didn't slip, great traction, and feet stayed the dryest of everyone's.

**Q: Is the tongue webbed? How high up does the waterproofing go?**
A: The whole boot is waterproof. I wore them in the snow and accidentally stepped in a puddle. My feet were dry all day.

UPDATE 9/29/2020 - I have been wearing the second pair I bought that is a different color. I love the first ones so much I bought more. These are really nice also. Just as good a fit and light but sturdy. The first pair is holding up very well also and look very good. This is a great boot and and an outstanding company. You can not go wrong with these boots. In photo: cleaned one with a wet wipe in about 30 seconds, the other still dirty from walking in the rain. Due to an upcoming snowstorm and my go-to hiking books falling apart, I got these because they were waterproof, cheap, and would arrive quick. My only need for these was them being waterproof. I dress business casual for work and had no plans to wear these as "dress shoes" but thought maybe they could become hiking boots once broken in. Turned out to be great for trudging through mucky, sloshy snow and were definitely waterproof! They actually look really nice and clean up easily and well. I now wear them to work if the weather is at all questionable and they look great! I will say they're not that comfortable, the insoles are kind of flat and hard and the material doesn't bend/flex too much. I replaced the insoles and have been wearing them for a bit and I think they're "breaking in". I don't know if I'd wear them on a long hike but the tread seems like it'll be pretty grippy so I'll definitely give them a try. Since they're very water proof they don't "breathe" too well. Fine if its cold out but expect to have sweaty, stinky feet if you're wearing them in the heat. Again, GREAT for cold/wet weather. All-in-all a KILLER deal for the price, just don't expect them to match up against $400 hand made premium hiking boots.
