## Description

4 CD SET FEATURING THE BEST BROADCAST RECORDINGS AVAILABLE Featuring a trio of the finest live recordings available by Jackson Browne, this four CD set includes full broadcasts from the 70s the 80s and the 90s - the period during which this maverick troubadour was at his creative peak. Kicking off on DISC ONE with a very early show for Jackson, performed just a few weeks after the release of his debut album in 1972 at the State University, in Stony Brook, New York, this gig has never previously been the subject of a CD release. Next up, on DISC TWO, is Browne s legendary appearance at the Rockpalast Festival in Essen, Germany in 1986, a show renowned for its foray into certain political material, performed as it was at the height of the Reagan-era. Concluding this delightful set, DISCS THREE & FOUR feature the great man s full show from Eugene, Oregon in 1994, played at that city s Centre For Performing Arts on 1st March

Songs like 'Lives in the Balance'

Superb collection from the most important years of Jackson Browne's stellar career. Jackson came into my life way back when with the song 'Running on Empty', a pivotal record in the soundtrack of my youth. Still can't get enough of that one and several others from those years. The sound quality on these discs is absolutely stunning! The song selection covers most of the years from from the early 70's to the early 90's. Jackson Browne is that era's true protest singer/songwriter/conscience. His political awareness has not waned and his voice is needed now more than ever. Songs like 'Lives in the Balance', 'Lawless Avenue' and 'Lawyers in Love' ring true more so now than when they were released. I wish this set included 'Anything Can Happen', one of my favorites from the 80's. I also wish I'd seen him live more than once. The only time I saw him was in the early 80's. The show happened at Blossom Music Center near Cleveland, Ohio and was about a month before 'Lawyers in Love' released. Thankfully, someone somewhere realized the desire of old rockers like me would LOVE the old broadcasts. They fit well next to the bootlegs. Rock on and PLAY IT FOR THE NEIGHBORS!!!

Not exactly what it says on the tin.

Hmnn.... not exactly as advertised. The front of slip case still wanted me to believe I was getting recordings from the 1970s to the 1990s, whereas the back came clean & admitted that the closest we were getting to Jackson in the 1990s was a CD of him live in Essen in 1986. Otherwise there was a double CD from 1982 & a single CD from 1972. It seemed more trouble than it was worth to return it - I mean, as I didn’t have any of these recordings already, & I hadn’t much faith in the company anyway given their inability to match up the details of what they were selling, I thought I might as well keep what I had been sent. So while it isn’t the comprehensive decade- spanning overview of Jackson’s career as it tries to suggest it is, it’s all good stuff - well, the 1972 CD is a bit embarrassing, but then audiences were happy to accept mumbling introductions about still being hungover from the night before, and consequently wobbly performances, as indications of hippy cred. Thankfully by 1982 Jackson has grown out of this particular form of dismal self indulgence, and by 86 he’s seriously telling Ronnie Reagan where to get off, as well as chronicling the various shapes and states of the human heart. Three out of four CDs are worth having, & it’s only three stars to alert you that you might well not get what you think you’re getting...
