Drops of water help to bring it out with the amiral gloss. Ice water is better. I would go watch the elegant oxford YouTube channel **Q: I can't find this on their website. How does this compare to the Mirror Gloss?** A: Mirror Gloss is a much harder wax. This is their second tier wax (blue line) vice their (MDO line.) They have the same base formula so it is a very good alternative and cheaper. Blue line products are just as well as the MDO line, just not as much of the higher end ingredients. **Q: Can I build up layers of Saphir Amiral for protection and then use Saphir Mirror Gloss over the Amiral?** A: Not an expert, but I get a good gloss just from the Amiral. Don’t know how much more the Mirror Gloss would add. **Q: Is this similar to the medaille d'or mirror gloss but just the lower quality/cheaper version?** A: Quality is very much the same. You get a great shine with both. Formulation might be different because mirror gloss feels drier out of the can. Much better than Kiwi Parade Gloss. Definitely buying again ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ OUT SHINES THE COMPETITION *by M***T on 1 June 2024* 50ml tin of Saphir (World's leading) French shoe/boot polish; black. Unlike another well known shoe polish manufacturer, who uses a thin, small propelling 'wing nut' affair, to open their tins (often breaking off), Saphir simply (& effectively) screw open or close. As expected, a top quality, easy to apply polish, drying dull, buffing to a brilliant shine. The more layers, the greater and greater, lasting shine. Each time after the initial polish, becomes easier and easier to maintain the shine. These will pass muster on any soldier's boots. Only 4 out of 5 stars for value, because it is priced too dear for most budgets in comparison with the competition. However, in terms of performance/results, it's a winner. The closet rival that I have used, is a Parade Gloss but the Saphir is easier to apply and quicker at getting hoped for results. The polish smell is not as strong as some rivals, probably because of the higher quality ingredients used. See the photographs; one pair of boots is a work in progress & works on jackets, etc. too.
