It also chops well as long as you make sure the item doesn't overlap beyond the cutting surface. Mine aligns well and so I don't have plastic being cut off like another reviewer complained about. It is fun to use and I was looking for things to cut when I first used it. The small grid is good for garlic but not onions, but the larger grid works well for onions. The mushroom cutter slices them a bit thick for me but it is okay since it reduces my cutting time immensely. Excellent chopper at a good price so that if it ever wears out, it is still cheap enough to replace. It went thru ther p[potatoes easily. Just make sure you slice potato in half and the total length of the potatoes radius does not exceed the length from the top blade to the inside base. **Q: BPA free?** A: According to the seller documenting, yes it is. **Q: Can green leafy vegetables be cut easily and well with this, such as lettuce, cabbage, spinach, and kale?** A: Although I haven't tried any leafy greens, I don't think it would do very well on things that are too soft. I'm afraid they would just get mushy (technical culinary term).
