If you're looking for exceptional qualities in a rock pickup, the EMG-81 is the one. Review: This is a blackhead remover. - I ordered a emg pick up .and got a black head remover (pictured). Review: EMG 81 sounds good but not worth time and money spent. - Some plug and play and YES some soldering, so i installed emg 81 pickup after trail and error, diagram was ok but didn't show how to install 1 active emg with 1 passive pickup. emg easily scratches, also screws and springs were not included as diagram states not sure what happened to mine. the sound is brighter than the passive pickup that came with the guitar but not worth $120 and 2 hours labor. Also 9 volt battery (powers up emg) and emg pickup wires didn't fit well where they needed to go so i recommend a drill. ## Features - Dual Coil Active Humbucker Pickup, Chrome - Built-in High Output, Low Noise Preamp - Mirror-Polished Stainless Steel Chrome Covers - Includes Volume/Tone Controls - Two Year Warranty ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B000ORXZEW | | Body Material | Mahogany | | Body Material Type | Mahogany | | Brand | Pfeilring | | Brand Name | Pfeilring | | Color | CHROME | | Customer Reviews | 2.2 out of 5 stars 9 Reviews | | Fretboard Material Type | Mahogany Wood | | Global Trade Identification Number | 04003349028236 | | Guitar Bridge System | Tremolo | | Guitar Pickup Configuration | H | | Hand Orientation | Right | | Item Dimensions | 2.63 x 2.38 x 6 inches | | Item Weight | 0.26 kg | | Manufacturer | EMG Inc. | | Manufacturer Part Number | 0228790030 | | Material Type | Stainless Steel | | Model Number | 81 CHROME | | Neck Material Type | Mahogany | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Strings | 6 | | String Material Type | Stainless Steel | | Top Material Type | Spruce Wood | | UPC | 700987275582 654330100994 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Warranty Description | Two years from date of purchase, parts and labor. | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Pfeilring - **Color:** CHROME - **Body Material:** Metal - **Neck Material Type:** Mahogany - **Guitar Pickup Configuration:** H - **String Material Type:** Stainless Steel - **Hand Orientation:** Right - **Number of Strings:** 6 - **UPC:** 700987275582 654330100994 - **Manufacturer:** EMG Inc. ## Images ![EMG 81 Humbucking Active Guitar Pickup, Chrome - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/416Q9ugt0gL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐ This is a blackhead remover. *by A***R on January 30, 2020* I ordered a emg pick up .and got a black head remover (pictured). ### ⭐⭐⭐ EMG 81 sounds good but not worth time and money spent. *by T***C on June 28, 2016* Some plug and play and YES some soldering, so i installed emg 81 pickup after trail and error, diagram was ok but didn't show how to install 1 active emg with 1 passive pickup. emg easily scratches, also screws and springs were not included as diagram states not sure what happened to mine. the sound is brighter than the passive pickup that came with the guitar but not worth $120 and 2 hours labor. It's smooth chrome finish went great with my Blacktop Baritone Telecaster. The tone is what'd you'd expect from an EMG pickup, high quality active sound and a great canvas from which to carve your sound. Many people complain about its 'sterile' sound but in my case that's just what I wanted: a foundation on which to paint my signature sound. The pickup is powerful and responsive and cuts through the mix with ease. Its a great extreme metal pickup. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.in/products/9511191-emg-81-humbucking-active-guitar-pickup-chrome](https://www.desertcart.in/products/9511191-emg-81-humbucking-active-guitar-pickup-chrome) --- *Product available on Desertcart India* *Store origin: IN* *Last updated: 2026-10-03*
