I bought a white lace dress, but I'm not very big on wearing white, so I decided to dye it what I was hoping would be a vivid teal/turquoise color (thus why I chose Tropical Teal). I was a little nervous because I've never dyed anything I cared about before, and I was worried I'd ruin the dress. I followed the instructions exactly--I had a 5 gallon pot and used the full bottle of dye with 3 gallons of water and added the dress when it hit 200 degrees F. I stirred it around for about 10 minutes and then rinsed it and washed it in the washing machine (make sure to add an old towel). A few things to notice that you can see in the pictures--the color can be very different depending on the fabric. The outer lace layer is a bright turquoise, whereas the liner is a much more dull teal. Not sure if it comes through well, but the threading is a much darker teal. It all works really well for this particular dress, but just be aware that different fabrics may appear different colors when dyed. Overall, the color came out very evenly, and I'm thrilled with it! Also does it permanently stain the pot?** A: I suppose the number of bottles to use depends on how deep you want the color. they say one bottle will do one smallish towel. what you could do is use one bottle and see if it's dark enough when it dries. if it's not, buy another one and do it again. i do mine in the washing machine, which it does NOT permanently stain. so i would THINK it wouldn't permanently stain a pot either- **Q: whats the difference between tropical and regular teal?** A: The tint/color is a little different.
