This clips are very easy to install in the slit on the awning roller rail. You just slide them in once you have the awning all the way out but not completely raised into place. You may need a ladder if you set the awning all the way up if you are short. We placed solar light bulbs in the clips and they worked just fine. The light string was longer than our awning roller rail, so we extended it to our EZ-Up 10'x10' canopy. The clips simply clip over the flat bars around the canopy (the bars are part of the structure that unfolds and spreads out and has the canopy covering attached to it). Please note: you cannot leave the clips in place when you take the awning or EZ-Up down. The clips must be removed or they will most likely damage your awning and/or canopy. They are very easy to remove and replace when used again. This clips are very sturdy and seem well made.
