## Description

The Twilight Sad's much-anticipated follow-up to 2007's Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters is a dark and tumultuous listen. Produced by guitarist Andy McFarlane with Paul Savage (of Delgados) at Glasgow's famed Chem 19 studios, Forget the Night Ahead retains the guitar-washed drama of their previous effort, with an added complexity both sonic and thematic.

An Evolution in The Twilight Sad's sound

*by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on May 28, 2018*

A shift toward the Interpol-esque minimalism that would be perfected on Nobody Wants to Be Here..., this album strikes a happy balance between the youthful angst of their classic debut, Fourteen Autumns and Fifteen Winters, and the mechanical darkness of the more recent Twilight Sad albums. This album is quietly crammed with bangers, headlined by "I Became a Prostitute" but including the likes of "Seven Years of Letters" and "Made to Disappear". Deliciously dark and a real grower.

    Please buy this

If you like the Scottish noise scene or MBV or just want to hear an artsy, noisy take on stirring rock music, please buy this. These guys are fantastic. This and their earlier records deserve more attention than they've received. I find myself singing hauntingly in a Scottish brogue more and more these days because of this record. Oh to have been born in Glasgow! The mix, the recording, the thickness, the delay, the feedback wash, the singer. All brilliant and all worth your attention. You will not regret this purchase.

more people should listen to The Twilight Sad and here's why: they rock. they have feeling and bring out feelings that should not stay buried. Inspired and a little dark, great ethereal guitar and drums that pound your soul--did I mention James's awesome scottish voice? Twilight Sad is definitly one of my favorite bands.
