Popular among a wide age group, including a good number of airport-lounging power executives, the Game Boy has a true hard-core fan base comprised of millions (and millions) of kids around the globe. Nintendo's Game Boy debuted in the late '80s and has since sold over 60 million units worldwide, far outpacing other hand-held game systems. With a catalog of over 1,000 games and dozens of add-on peripherals, Game Boy is a monster of a hand-held game system, and a remarkably affordable one at that. Early March 1998 brought the release of the Game Boy Color system, an upgraded version of the original. It is equipped with an 8-bit CPU, doubling the original Game Boy's computing power. The small LCD screen can display up to 56 colors simultaneously (out of a 32,000-color palette), delivered via boosted video processing memory that provides remarkably sharp and vibrant graphics. The hundreds of available games vary from tremendously compelling to instantly forgettable. Quality or not, the entire library of games designed for the original system is playable on Game Boy Color, but buyers should note that not all Game Boy Color games will work on the original Game Boy system. The Game Boy Color system is available in an exotic array of colors and special editions. Accessories and add-on peripherals abound, enhancing the playing experience with vibrating feedback to in-game bumps and crashes, extra battery power, and even a clever camera package that allows players to capture, tweak, and print images. Game Boy Color was the ultimate evolution of the original Game Boy system. Released in 1998, Game Boy Color added a color display that allowed for a palette of over 32,000 colors. Game Boy Color was compatible with hundreds of original Game Boy games, and also played games that were specially enhanced for Game Boy Color (though it cannot play Game Boy Advance games). Game Boy Color was available in many colors such as Teal, Kiwi, Grape, Berry, Dandelion and Atomic Purple. Review: not 100% perfect, but 99% is pretty good for this old delightful Gameboy - Granted, i can't really fault a 24 year old refurbished product from being completely perfect, so be aware there are a few blemishes, and the screen mildly pops out (very slight). The GameBoy functions beautifully, powered up and plays all my old games just like my original had when i was young. It has made me happy and i'm glad i have a GBC again Review: GBC- FYI-( Game Boy Color) - This is the best system that they did come out with beside's the GBA and GBA SP and technically the original game boy advance really wasn't all that great it was just a spin off of the game boy color the only difference smaller games the GBA SP is pretty good back light on screen and charger that plugs in to my wall yeah it's nice but it doesn't quite have the same old feeling I get when I play the game boy color the GBC bring's back a lot of good old memories excellent games for that system even when I look here or at gamestop or electronic boutiques I alway ask for the older games you just can't beat old school no matter how hard you try yeah some of the newer game's are alright but I still like old school games nothing beats them better the GBC is exactly like the GBA SP only the GBC doesn't fold and doesn't have the smaller games that's the only difference and the GBC does have a charger that can plug in to the wall because I looked into it on this website: [...]. ## Features - Requires 2 AA Batteries ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B0000296ZK | | Best Sellers Rank | #17,148 in Video Games ( See Top 100 in Video Games ) #4 in Game Boy Color Consoles | | Brand Name | Nintendo | | Color | Kiwi | | Customer Reviews | 4.0 4.0 out of 5 stars (1,632) | | Item Weight | 4.8 ounces | | Manufacturer | Nintendo of America | | Manufacturer Part Number | gbc_00039_6 | | Memory Storage Capacity | 32 GB | | Model Number | CGB-001 | | Platform | Game Boy Color | | Resolution | 480p | | Software Update Supported to Date | unknown | | UPC | 045496710781 | ## Images ![Game Boy Color - Kiwi [video game] - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71aPHFy9BIL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: where is the cartridge slot located?** A: Its located on the back towards the top. It was shipped on time, but not as fast as expected. The description also led me to believe that there would be other things coming along with the system (cable, case, and two games). None of which ever came. He was apologetic for the mix up and stated he never intended for those to be a part of the sale process, but he did offer to refund the transaction. I would strongly suggest that you send this person an email to find out what you're actually buying before you purchase something. --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.in/products/9921694-game-boy-color-kiwi-video-game](https://www.desertcart.in/products/9921694-game-boy-color-kiwi-video-game) --- *Product available on Desertcart India* *Store origin: IN* *Last updated: 2026-10-24*
